well my local authority have been wanting to close down a leisure centre for some time..
being a cynic the Aerated concrete RAAC is the perfect excuse,
wonder how many more sports halls and swimming pools will soon be closed..

what a sh1t show, usual adage buy cheap buy twice :0(
When I saw Leeds in the link I thought this was gonna be about Kippax leisure center, that'll be soon I reckon!
We had a similar thing in our town, but not RAAC related.
Leisure centre closed to repair roof.
In the mean time a lot of talk about plans for a new leisure centre to replace the existing one.
Nothing happened for ages to repair the roof, so it deteriorated more , which meant the leaking caused more damage.
Surprise surprise - new leisure centre plans scrapped & old leisure centre now too expensive to repair & has been shut since around 2019.
I bet it's in loads of libraries as well......
It’s in loads of places and they’re all closed, even to contractors. Been turned away from a couple of jobs (not schools or leisure centres this week due to RAAC. 3m
I suspect I’ll be back once they have worked out risk assessment, make me wear a hi viz and hard hat in case the building spontaneously falls down.
