Fantastic double bass player with Pentangle, John Martyn, Incredible String band and Richard Thompson, among many others.

Great player , very sad ..... First heard him on Ralph McTell's albums when I was learning how to finger pick guitar...

I’ve just seen it announced on Flipboard from Uncut Magazine, and that’s a really sad thing to hear. He was an extraordinary musician, a bass player you always knew who was playing even if you’d never heard the piece of music before.

He played with such an amazing wide range of musicians as well.

He’s going to be greatly missed. RIP Danny.

Exactly my thoughts.

Solid Air was playing on R6M when I turned it on last night - I didn't hear whether Marc Riley said anything about his death.

RIP Danny;

Bill Leader, who was the producer of the Pentangle albums, who taught me at Salford in the 90s, always had good things to say about Danny he was one of the good guys and yes an amazing player

Am I imagining it (or confusing my folk musicians) but I'm sure I read somewhere that at one point after Pentangle he was working as a bus driver, bin man or something because he was earning so little money as a musician?

I saw Jaquie McShea's Pentangle a couple of years ago. Pleasant, but not a shade of what they were, but then that would be difficult to replicate.
