Hi
We recently booked a holiday in Kefalonia but a fairly serious medical issue means that we are considering swapping to a location with better medical facilities.
Thinking about a bigger Greek island or mainland Spain or Portugal.
Any recommendations for a nice quiet holiday self catering and flying from a Northern airport
Budget around 1k-1.5k for both of us in August which seems doable
Thanks
Steve

How serious, as in potentially needing A&E/resuscitation serious? Is it bad enough that you should be considering whether being stuck in the air on a plane is a good idea? Healthy individual drives to Nice with plenty of stops along the way for the ill person, then explore the quieter surrounding areas? Most well equipped medical facilities are going to be in cities, so really it depends how bad the condition is and how close you want to be to a city.

Maybe ask your GP?

Hi
Epilepsy.
Kefalonia has bot all facilities.
Probably won’t be needed but would like to know it’s there if it is
Cheers
Steve

Epilepsy has all sorts of risks doesn't it? If you are worried it is probably best to stick close to somewhere with a decent A&E! As any latent worry will only serve to ruin the holiday! There are so many beautiful cities in Europe - don't rule out a city break. You could go earlier maybe and avoid the crowds!?

As boring as it is, have you considered the impact that having an issue abroad might have? Have you got insurance that will cover the condition?

Swindon. Great Western Hospital is pretty good and I've heard rumour of some excellent trails.

Yep I'd be checking out the travel insurance state before you plan anything as it's pre existing and potentially not covered, EHIC will get you somewhere (if we are still in) but not cover any cancellations or changes of plan.
For less stress somewhere in the UK, rural but close enough to a decent city, Northumberland for example
