If I turn the little blue tap off I can disconnect the dishwasher cold feed without water dripping but it is good enough for a long term solution or are there proper stopper plugs I can get?

Yes and yes

It will be fine as long as the valve is clean and isn't passing but if it is you can get blanking caps.

Don’t leave it uncapped for long. Whilst in theory they’re water tight, they leak often and are easily knocked open. Either cap with a 3/4” blank or turn the water off properly, drain down and fit a proper cap end in lieu of the valve.
