I've not used it for a while, but listed something recently as a 'Buy It Now'. I've probably specified a too high price as I'm getting some reasonable offers via emails/messages. I thought I'd pop in and add a 'Make Offer' option to take care of this without my input, but most of the options to revise my listing are greyed out. A message at the top of the listing stating 'Some of the fields in this listing cannot be edited at this time'.

Is this a new thing or just a glitch? You used to be able to go in and edit your listing. The option to do so is still there so what gives?

If it's something they'll have to collect email back and accept the offer, cash on collection, no fees, job done.
It won't let you put contact details on messages so you'll need to hide it in an obvious way, oh 7 e I g t y o n e 89.... kind of thing

They are quite often greyed-out if you have an unanswered question or offer about the item.

I think that was indeed the case stanley.

So I emailed a potential buyer, accepting their offer subject to a private sale using the cunning e m a i l code from above. Worried for a moment whether the standard eBay user would understand, and of course, they don't get it. Forced to laboriously explain my circumventing of the rules over many messages trying to get them off eBay... they still don't understand. They're either going to hit 'Buy It Now' out of frustration and expect it at the cash price. Or suddenly decide I'm a scammer and report me to eBay, who now have a record of my deviousness 😉

Joy.

If you cancel the listing after agreeing for someone to buy the item it will trigger some eBay checks. You may just get a stroppy warning mail or you may get more than that...

Just wait until they have an "80% off fees" or "£1" offer and sell stuff then.

I’ve had to cancel Buy It Now sale, the buyers registered address was in the USA, it was a UK posted sale. It said so in the listing. He wanted it posted to a UK forwarding address. Nope, sorry, I’m not taking the risk.

eBay were fine. Although I paid more final sale fees on the relisted item.
