I put four bikes up for sale last week (part clear out, part precautionary and preemptive of having to live off SSP. Priced on the cheap side of reasonable, buyers interested, arrange collection, then radio silence for a bit and a "sorry, plans have changed".

Might be related, but I'd not risk selling on ebay without a reserve at the moment!

Slight update, after the initial dearth of interest I've sold 2 bikes at the asking price Easter weekend, splitting a 3rd to sell the frame, forks and wheels for 75% of the asking price, gave away the OH's old BSO to a relative, and have someone interested in one of the others.

Just the winter road / Summer SSCX bike to sell (which is debatable whether I actually want to sell it) and I'll be back to a very sensible n=3 (road, cross and MTB).

Bad weather an initial pessimism has given way to sunshine and boredom, it's a great time to be selling bikes!

The OPEC+ deal will have to be re-visited soon.
Here's an FT article from late 2019

I wonder if the UK has topped up it's strategic reserve?
Interesting that US keeps it's strategic reserve in crude but most other countries have refined product.

We have two oil pipelines going through of land and they replaced a shutoff valve on the [jet fuel] one in November. This involved shutting the pipeline completely for 5 days which apparently was a very big deal as that line was running at >90% capacity - which is extremely unusual.

Bet they wished they'd waited a few months and taken their time!!

My daughter received a tip off about where her stolen bike could be found, unfortunately her friend's bike has not appeared. Taken by school kids during the night, dysfunctional family etc. Should this be further reported, who knows. Have told her to be very careful though.

I had one bloke offered me 40% of asking price for my son's track back, it was already really cheap, I hadn't replied and he came on again saying there's a world crisis and you won't sell it otherwise, so I told him to **** off, I'd rather give it to my son's cycling club as a pool bike than let some stroker like that have it.

using standard purchasing tactics doesn't make him a stroker, he'd be daft not to try to use 'the fear' with a seller at this time.

Up to you whether you prefer to give it away to a deserving cause instead of course, but I don't think offering low ball given the circumstances is that harsh, it's a buyer's market right now.

It wasn't the lowball offer, it was him coming back with the unsolicited "It's a world crisis, you won't sell it otherwise" that made him a stroker, in my book that is, maybe not in yours, takes all sorts.

Not really, there is bugger all decent stuff for sale.

I've been lazy with spares accumulating recently. Stuck a big load of high end kit up & it's almost all gone, at considerably better prices than I would usually expect.

Yeah you always get chancers, but that's what the delete button is for 🙂

I'd disagree with this, I've been selling a few bits and everyone has been civil and reasonable as usual.

Anyone who told me they deserved 40% off a cheap asking price because there's a world crisis would get laughed at.

Mild mental instability, probably.
