What knot are you using to connect a nylon leader to braid?
Might need two different knot combos as I use a tapered leader but also 60lb greased weasel as well on another reel.

Google in, 'Improved Albright'
Can't remember what I have on the FS reel with braid cos I mainly use a multi.

It's been along time but remember using a blood Knott a lot to join stuff. Not sure it'll work with a tapered leader though

Cheers chaps. Love using braid but always a bit apprehensive about the leader knot.

What are you fishing for?
I do quite a lot bass fishing and use a bright yellow 12lb braid (spiderwire) straight to the lure. I caught over 50 fish last summer - only kept one.
I don't bother with the nylon... It's just another weak link that could let go.

Oh and a blood knot will not work with braid.... It's too slippery.

Cod fishing on the Yorkshire coast, it’s a shockleader knot.

I use a double grinner, 20lb braid to a tapered leader. That’s on a fixed spool and long rod set up.

Are you power casting? I don't use a leader on my cod fishing rig. 100lb braid mainline straight through to an 80lb pulley rig with 60lb hooklength. 7-8 oz weights. Fishing from the rocks on the east coast of Scotland, a wee short 30-40 yard lob to get in to the cod, so i don't feel the need for a shockleader. I would think a uni knot on both lines would be pretty good.

Yep, power casting, flattish beaches round here so distance helps. I use the uni knot a lot but haven’t tried it for shockleader but will tie it and have a test.
I will have a look at the double grinner as that’s the same set up as me Russl.
You guys getting any nice cod? The beaches are full of them down here but only small ones around the 1 to 2lb Mark with a few nicer 6 to 8s mixed in.

Fishing from the rocks on the east coast of Scotland,

Arbroath by any chance?

It's been dire on the NE coast of Engerland between the Tyne & Tees at least lately, (at least from what I've read/heard) Seaham club had a comp on Sunday gone. 76 entrants got 10 fish between them!

Well the cod have really been coming out this last few days on the south Holderness coastline. Some big bags and some really nice fish showing as well now, 3 guys on our local Facebook group had 27 cod between them up to 7lb.
A few up to the 15lb mark as well.
Having an outing on Sunday so hopefully there are a few left!
