Been running LED bulbs off the old Halogen 12v down lighters except those we have dimmers on.

Anyway a quite few of the transformers have packed up now

Whats the current thinking on these replace the transformers and carry on with 12v LEDs or rip out and put new GU10 fittings in and presume I can get dimable GU10s that work with legacy dimmers?

You'd still probably need new dimmers as the load will be so much less. They are rated for a specific load, so for example 300w, so you'll find they basically don't dim.

Personally I’d get rid of transformers as much as possible so I’d go 240v, but probably swap the dimmer as well to make sure it plays well with the LED fittings.

I'd replace the fittings with LED.   Dimmer may or may not work, all depends on the fittings you get.

New LED dimmer switch is £95 😳

Then to switch to 240v means swapping out 22 Down lights fittings 😳😳

So need to be sure this is the right way to go.

Although thinking that actually all I need is to keep the fittings but 22 GU10 tails and then connect directly to junction boxes?

If you're already using 12V LEDs, and the dimmer switch works, then swapping for similar wattage (dimmable) GU10s should work equally well.

all I need is to keep the fittings buy 22 GU10 tails and then connect directly to junction boxes?

Correct. Do you have access to the JBs? Pulling the cable is usually the challenging bit.
