My mate gave me a blast on his Quest 2 headset the other day and it blew my mind!

I have to say, I've never played video games and so thought it wouldn't interest me, but I got completely immersed in another dimension. It was like an instant acid trip that you can jump straight out of.

And now I'm tempted to get one to try out some of the Tripp meditation style experiences, although I know what I'm like and fear the novelty will wear off and it will sit gathering dust.

Any none-gamers bought one purely for the 'escape to another world'?

Pros & cons?

They are great but quite exhausting (they recommend not using them for too long at first) I have a PSVR as I am already in the PS world and I love it as do my two 12 yr old girls and even my wife (playing Beat Saber). I am also loving Star Wars Squadrons but I think that is a PSVR title only.

And of course with a Quest you also have the benefit of access to VR grot (which is, I assume, why all my single mates went for a Quest over PS) đŸ™‚

We got a Quest (1) last year and it's still amazing. YouTube VR has some amazing 360 vids. Not bothered with any grot yet!

Half Life Alyx is still mindblowingly creepy. Needs a decent pc/laptop to run it, and a bit of jiggery-pokery to connect it up though. And google earth in VR is astonishing.

Just got Pistol Whip following a recommendation on here and that's pretty good. It's Beat Sabre with 9mm automatics.

They have apparently enabled air link for the quest 1 and that should work with Steam, not tried it yet though.

I used sidequest (but I can't remember why, now!) and Virtual Desktop. About 15 quid I think it was. Works perfectly well. It recommends wiring in the laptop to the router, but it's wireless from there.

Well, I've decided I'm gonna buy the kids one each cos I'm a fantastic dad đŸ™‚

Also, I'm sure they'll take it in turns to lend me it every now & again as I'm a fantastic dad and that way mine wont be gathering dust after the novelty wears off.

Ohh good 😹😹😹

Back on the subject, I got home from work tonight to them both playing on it again - it’s a damn good game.

Fallen over the coffee table yet ?

On Christmas Day (it was a present) I tried Wipeout. I fell sideways/backwards after about 30 seconds 😹

You don't even need a "game" to make you fall over - just get the (free) Mission ISS thing and let your brain handle floating around in it while staring at the earth. Nearly threw up and fell over the first time I played that!
