What is currently the go to micro USB cable?
I'm likely to need a few and want to get some decent ones.

Big bag of mixed length Olixar ones from Mobile Fun have been very good for me.

Genuine question, what makes a good one versus a bad one? I've got loads in a drawer that came with devices and just use what's to hand.

Another vote here for Anker stuff; have also found that Amazon "Basics" cables are generally reliable/decent quality/good value.

I was bored recently and installed an app which reported what charge the phone was receiving. I expected the difference from different types of usb plugs, but was surprised that using different cables gave different results too - not all cables are made equally! Can't help the op though, still just use the collection of bundled cables I've received over the years!

I like the Anker braided ones to, not sure they're particularly better than any other cable though but seem a bit less flimsy than most.

I thought all micro USB leads were equal - but then I had an episode where my Rasperry pi was reporting low power despite using an appropriate power adaptor. I swapped the USB lead for another one (same adaptor) and my problem was immediately solved.

I've bought 1/2m & 1m long ones from Poundland before without issue.

For short ones I've not found much difference. For long ones (2-3m) some of the cheap ones I've had have been rubbish at giving a decent charge but these seem to work well: https://www.banggood.com/Digoo-DG-BB-13MW-9_99ft-3m-Long-Micro-USB-Durable-Charging-Power-Cable-Line-for-IP-Camera-Device-etc-p-1134271.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN . Handy for hotel rooms with one socket miles from the bed.

The micro usb cables don't seem to be as fragile as apple's lightning cables, but after Jamie's recommendation, I go with Amazon Basics cables.

I have some of these. They are good, nice thick braided cable and good strain relief plus they have an amusing name:

Brands I trust for this kind of thing:
AmazonBasics
Anker
Xiaomi

If it's more demanding (long HDMI/DisplayPort/etc), then Molex or Lindy offer good value with high quality.

Edit:Strangely, Poophuns haven't made it onto my radar!

Is it Poo Phuns or Poop Huns, though?
