Tap in kitchen been installed for 5 years. After recent water outages it is now dripping. Friendly plumber suggested that ceramic disc may be scratched by small particles of grit when water switched back on.
Unfortunately I cannot remember which brand of tap to try to get spares.....duh!
So, if I am forced to buy a new tap, which I want long life and spares availability for, what is recommended?
Grohe and Hansgrohe elsewhere in house. Any decent alternatives?
Thanks.
A lot of taps use standard cartridges, can you not take out the cartridge and take it to a plumbers merchant
Are you in a hard water area, scale build up doesn't go well with ceramics, beter going for a decent quality tap with replacable cartridges
Franke
But try posting a photo I might recognize it or someone else might.
Bristan are top notch for after sales and spares at a slightly more wallet friendly price than Franke or Grohe/Hansgrohe.
Hello
I have a Grohe kitchen mixer tap with a spray head and extendable hose going spare. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you some pictures. It's unused and I just never got round to installing it.
email me on stephenlunn@live.co.uk
Cheers

what northernmatt said. Bristan may not be the best quality, but their aftersales is v good (think Hope of the tap world 😉 )
You can take a photo of your tap and email them and one of their peeps will let you know whether it's theirs or not and what the part number might be.
