I am considering paying for it as I like the music schedules and I listen to music all day (and into the evening), every day.
But - if I pay for it, does it stop the incessant 'Make me a winner' announcements?

I think those announcements persist. And they are very irritating.
I believe there is a free 30 day trial though?

Nope.
Just gets rid of the adverts for PPI lawyers, Diesel emissions lawyers, etc. Ie the stuff they get paid to play.
