Following a comment in the wanted section I found myself looking at the cex website.
I've never used cex but the items seem to sell cheaper than eBay etc.
Are there any pitfalls from using cex? It seems they have stock photos and 'standard' item specs. Nothing to suggest what condition the item you're buying is in.
Anything else I should worry about??
Thanks
They give items grades etc, so A is perfect, B okay etc.
They offer a 2 year warranty on stuff so I'd say pretty low risk.
We've bought and sold loads of stuff at their shops and never had an issue. I'd use them online without hesitation.
+1 for used their stores to buy/sell and no probs
I've used their online store to buy a set of Bose Bluetooth headphones, A grade by CEX standards. The headphones arrived basically brand new, that was over a year ago and I still use them most days with no problems yet.
They are pretty good, you can return items bought online to any shop
Well that's all very positive, think it's probably worth a punt.
Are grade C electronics best avoided?
I've bought 2 phones and a freesat box. All listed as 'B' but to my eye they're immaculate, I think it largely means "not actually brand new". I think C grade stuff would be fine - it's their reputation at stake so things will likely be better than expected (as for me).
Bought a few bits from their website, a couple of b grade SSD disks were great.
A b grade camera lens that didn't have a lens cap was the worst thing.
I bought a game from them last week (in-store), but the disc was so dirty it wouldn't play. It was fine after I gave it a good clean, but it's just something to watch out for, if you buy a game from them.
