Pubs and clubs in Brussels?

Junior and his girlfriend have eurostar tickets for early Sunday morning, meaning that a night out in Brussels is on the cards. A bit of a change from the Amsterdam trip they'd aspired to, but failed to make the relevant train reservations in a timely manner.
So, any recommendations for places an 18 and 19 year old might enjoy on a night out in Bruxelles?

Le Roy d'Espagne - though I believe it's gone more foody than boozy these days.

Where are they staying? Think the Eurostar comes into Gare Du Midi and from what I know, the area around there is a bit of a hole vs getting a local (very regular!) train from Gare Du Midi to Gare Centrale literally 3 minutes up the line where you're more in the old town and theres loads of places to eat/drink. La Mort Subite (sp?) is well worth popping into for croque monsieur and a MASSIVE array of beers...

I'll echo what DavetBoyWonder has to say.  It's a total sh1thole and rather rough around Gare du Midi (I'm 6ft and fairly big, and I'd not want to wander around the area around Midi on my own when it's dark).

Much nicer a short train rise away into Centraal and tue Grand Platz.

La Mort Subite is a defo for proper beer.

Also there's a pub-come-micro-brewery just off the Grand Platz - literally 10 yards up the small street at the top left hand corner.  Just can't recall the name.

Cafe bar / restaurant in the top right of the GP did great mussels and the best Creme Brulle ever. Le Roy d'Esparge.

Saint Gilles is the happening district in Brussels.

we rented a apartment for a few nights last month from a young couple. the area around the Louise tram stop is proper buzzing with bars and clubs.

i seek good beers out wherever i go, and we were spoilt for choice.

and far cheaper than the center, or so the couple said.

Le Roy d’Espagne

I'm not sure it's really what an 18/19 year old would want, but it's a classic

Is true.  Place Flagey is also good.  I like the Flip bar down there ( https://www.ixelles.city/ixelles/1316/flip) but there are livelier places.  Flip has a great beer selection

Is disappointed to have missed Ton in BXL.  I work next to the Loise tram stop (well, when i work)

Moeder Lambic is the classic for beer, but only really worth it if you want to try really different beers.  There are other places just to drink

and +1 to getting away from Gare du Midi

Good stuff. I like Brussels... One lesson for travellers thinking about going, make sure you know which airport you're flying into because "Brussels" Charleroi is definitely not "in" Brussels 😀
