Man the barricades?

Sing rousing songs?

Die tragically in the arms of the one we loved, but who did not return our love?

That’s not the British way, we don’t behave like Johnny Foreigner, dammit! The proper way is to roll our eyes and write a stern letter to the Daily Mail.

Explains your fondness for Brexit too

Up until he discovers that not having £100 million or more in the bank is a disadvantage when the full force of low wages de-regulation and the race to the bottom hits his cosy corner of the world.

Why do something tangible like take to the streets or take an active role in local politics when you can like a post on Facebook.

I always think the ironic thing about people posting virtue signalling political statements on social media is that they are basically saying "I'm showing that I care about this, but I'm also showing how lazy and completely ****less a human being I am by doing nothing but press a like button".

I'm not sure this is the message they want to disseminate, but it's amusing them not understanding that it is!

I think theres going to be a global revolution in our lifetime.  How can so much of the worlds wealth line so few pockets and the masses not get up and take a stand.

Currently 8 people have the same wealth as the poorest 3.8billion .  Given the way global economies are working that will continue to skew in the favour of the wealthiest.

We should. Everything else we do is ignorable. But look at protest these days in the UK- strikes have been neutered, any sort of civil disorder is Wanton Criminality (and the police are very adept at turning protest into disorder), demos are always downplayed in the media...

We’ve never had it so good.

That's what they want you to think 😉

While we all sit back and feel comfortable the money just heads up the chain and ends up in the hands of the select few.  When individuals become wealthier than governments then democracy is going to struggle.

That's kind of the point. As long as the poor are a lot richer than they have ever been before and continue to get richer by the day they aren't going to let envy get the better of them.

Oldtalent's right though. Yes some are struggling as some have always struggled. No revolution, facebook group or internet petition will change that. Look to yourselves and your family first. Do that properly and you might find your able to then help some others.

Quite true.  The standard of living globally is on a steep upwards curve.

The however, however, is that if only there could be a bit more equality....

In the developing world this means fighting corruption, which siphons off the wealth generation of the population in the pockets of those in power.

In the first world, this means that the progressive tax system that we're meant to have needs to be enforced and those that earn the most should pay more tax.  It has to born in mind that the top 1% pays 25%+ of income tax, however it's the tax evasion/avoidance of the top 0.1% that needs to be tackled, and inheritance tax increased.

I can hardly talk though when it comes to tax.  I guess my form of protest was to move to a country, with my wife, that has an income tax rate of 0%.  Two professionals educated and trained in the UK system now plying their trade in another country is not an intentional protest, but it's a very tangible message!

cubist the population seem obessed with cheap stuff to me not matter what the broader cost to society, Amazon, Facebook, Uber, Deliveroo ... as long as they are paying rock bottom price for something the millenials don’t care

As for protesting well firebombing police cars and smashing shops doesn’t seem to be helping in France with it’s 25% youth unemployment

Its OK folks I've nearly perfected the virus that will wipe out anything that has both human and lizard DNA.  The revolution starts here.

Long, long way to go before anything resembling a revolt could happen in this country.

Brexit might be a step in that direction though.

Ironically the revolt is now just as likely to be part of the normal populous against the other part. With the true elite still not held to account.

Also the government will have no qualms about using the police as a paramilitary force to tame a populous kicking off anyway. It's been done before over here.

If people actually lose their fear of the state and its sanctions then all bets are off.

We need massive reform in the country but I'm no lover of anarchy.

Yes when the numbers were higher that might have been relevant, 2011 showed what the police could do....er nothing

Poll tax riots were the last significant protest. Beginning of the end for thatcher.

May is probably eyeing it up now and thinking ‘watch this’.   Brexit tax?

I'm no strategist but I reckon you'd want a fresh pair of daps before going up against the government.
