Just changed to anew sportshall and we need to get a £1m policy for when we play. It's not a league, so it's only to cover for damage to facilities etc.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
That seems a bit odd, are you just booking a sports hall for an hours usage?
Never heard of this – surely your paying to use their facilities should be in part to cover their costs in having adequate insurance / contingency funds for any repairs?
Have a look is theres any football related associations / bodies you can join that offer insurance to their members. Some national bodies take out a blanket policy that covers anyone (or any group) thats a member.
Never heard of this
Its pretty common. Usually just usually a council wide policy for their venues that has no real thought given to when and where its applied. It doesn't necessarily mean the hall isn't suitably covered anyway but it leaves the door open for blame shifting and sloping shoulders and it also helps to defend the council against numerous spurious claims.
I was once invited to give a 20 minute talk in a museum and art gallery then told I needed to have £5 million PL insurance to do it. Trying to think what I could say to incur that level of carnage!
Their T&Cs state that we need to provide the cover. Have spoken to a few other teams and they are in the same position at other sports halls/pitches.
Are you insuring against public liability or damage to their facilities? £1m worth of building damage would be quite a lot. You say damage, but that doesn't seem right.
If it is public liability then this isn't unusual, may not be strictly necessary but it makes things easier for them. They will have cover for their public liability but that may or may not not cover you. If you (as a third party) incur a liability then they want you to deal with it.
Really. Wow. Played on outside courts for years never had this.

Gentlemen! Let's make some art!

Normally the sports hall has insurance cover, never required it and I've booked loads over the years all over the place.....

its kind of the same thing. Its a third party insurance for damage for anything or any one that isn't you/yours.
