I do not think its legal to prescribe let alone buy. Early results with using hallicinogens to treat depression look very good but its very early days yet.

Maybe a trial you could sign up for?

Last Labour government banned the sale of magic mushrooms (previously could get them in a shop in nottingham town centre).

Their crackdown on drugs led to the far less healthy designer drug craze. People gonna take what people wanna take.

Results are promising indeed. But in the meantime the best defence we have against depression, including antidepressants, is good sleep, friends and regular exercise in green spaces.

Keep on bikin' 🙂

I believe it is combined with therapy, and the sessions are guided by mental health professionals. I would not self-medicate unless you know what you're doing or a trustworthy and experienced person to guide you.

Psilocybin and ketamine are both showing interesting signs of being effective in treating depression, but not self-medication, only in a closely monitored clinical situation.

Is this the stuff Professor Nutt gives in trial studies to alleviate mood in depression sufferers?

From what I've seen there's 2 very different but both encouraging approaches... I know people who've used microdosing and have found it more effective than conventional antidepressants, enough that I'm tempted to give it a try. (remember kids, it's illegal to buy mushrooms, but not spores)

The more full-on approach of basically doing a medically observed and moderated trip on golden teacher is obviously not something to dabble with but I gather it shows promise.

Homer did it and it was fine.

Joking aside it seems logical. In the right environment and at the right level. Not something to dive into.

No, Chevy.
A loophole in the existing law was being exploited and was closed.
This happened when there was a Labour govt. in power.
Not quite as emotive is it?

Anecdotally the come down is like having a wash from the inside, so I'm told.

Psilocybin is brilliant, whether a full on “hero” dose, a “therapeutic” dose or daily “micro dose they all have benefits and the next day it feels like you’ve had full defrag of the conscious/unconscious mind and are running at 100% capacity with a clarity of thought that cannot be fully expressed through verbalisation of the experience, medical and therapeutically sanctioned use cannot come soon enough

Wow - Soma that what you describe sounds amazingly refreshing and worthwhile though not sure the DR would suggest it if any were available legally

Haven't seen a quack for loooong time to gauge or throw it out there

I feel tremendous tension/pain and suffer the dire squits most days from taking Sertraline

It is alright apart from that though mind

Check out some of the “Tim Ferriss” podcasts regarding psilocybin/microdosing/research. He’s a major driving force in the resurgence of investigative peer reviewed research under the “MAPS” program and at “Johns Hopkins University” in using psychedelics as a genuinely ground breaking treatment for many ills.

Like I mentioned....I’m a somewhat biased fan of our mushroom friends. Can’t wait for autumn this year, it’s like removing your brain and giving it a good scrub and deep clean then a fresh install of our personalised operation system.

I have to say he was on the mark, remember at the same time as making mushrooms class A they also upgraded cannabis from a class C against the advice from the people they employed to do so, the ACMD, led by the aforementioned David Nutt and agreed with by the Chief Medical Advisor. Nutt's dismissal preceded a wave of resignations by his peers.

What annoys me is that these "advances" are nothing new. LSD was being used to treat schizophrenia 50 years ago and still people go on about the rainforest or ocean trenches potentially holding the next wonder drug. We already have some of them and they're growing in the shitty corner of the field next door!

I love the fact that the "common" name for magic mushrooms is Liberty Caps, quite telling.

As long as they are the right ones, I'm in Camp Somafunk.

Only ever had them recreationally, but they certainly have promise from what I've read medicinally

All these things get held back because no one can figure out how to patent and therefore own them, that's all that's holding CBD oil back etc, no good for Pfizer if you can make your own drugs in your garden is it lol

What exactly is a "hero" dose?

Is it enough for the walls to start breathing, or enough for the world to appear to be at 45 degrees, or enough to be able to "hear" the stars twinkle at night?

Asking for a friend.
