Not massively discounted but they sell out / become victim to ebay scalpers the closer you get to xmas

Seems to be a bike friendly multi tool this year

https://www.primetools.co.uk/product/wera-136609-advent-calendar-2024-25-piece-tool-set/

Note the tools are genuine usable tools, the allen keys from last years calendar get almost daily use in my garage when I need flat ended allen keys

I actually do need that! I’m well stocked for bits but I’ve long since lost my bit driver handle. So. Ordered.

don't think that link in the OP was discounted at all? But currently available for a decent price from Amazon EU! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CXTDY9NG?smid=A30DC7701CXIBH&ie=UTF8&useRedirectOnSuccess=1&ref_=dex_glow_signin&path=%2Fdp%2FB0CXTDY9NG%3Fsmid%3DA30DC7701CXIBH&tag=pepperugc03-21&ascsubtag=2736400564

The Allen keys last year were ok, but they’re the cheapo non-ball end version which was irksome. I don’t even think you can buy them in the Uk. The long reach screwdriver set is a work of art though.

The year before’s little socket set and t-handle driver was really good.

Has anyone received theirs from prime tools yet? I had assumed it would be sent out closer to Christmas… but, it’s quite close now!?!?

There's a Sealy one that's now half price on there now that seems good value?

Ok, in the interests of preserving prime tools reputation, I do appear to have an email saying “thanks for your order, now please pay your invoice”… “payment method: Apple Pay”. Bit of an odd process seeing as I thought I’d completed it via Apple Pay, but it appears I never completed the purchase.

What's the quality going to be like in that Sealy one? Eldest could do with some tools for his new house.

And there is a Draper one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-28049-Calendar-Christmas-Countdown/dp/B0BBG14BTW/ref=asc_df_B0BBG14BTW?mcid=9cef90c88a1d3081b310d255c4b24637&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697280285482&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6891953696144808729&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9193898&hvtargid=pla-2006032988312&psc=1&gad_source=1

Not that I’ve been looking for ‘advent calendars with tools’ or anything. Or feeling sad about the Wera hex set that got left in a car park. No. No tool fetishism here…

It looks like generic chinesium with a Sealey logo. If he doesn't do much it'll probably be ok.

Which is pretty much Sealey all over. They (along with Draper, Lazer) etc have their basic branded stuff which is all generic and probably the same as all the others. Then they do the Premier line (like Draper Expert) which are the higher quality, non disposable type.

I've learned the hard way to avoid the basic stuff because it's generally, cheap generic rubbish whereas the Premier stuff is generally pretty good for the money.

The Halford's advent calendar (drnosh's link doesn't work for me) is £20 and part of their Advanced range, so should have a lifetime warranty and actually looks pretty good, if you don't already have a small socket set (they also do a 40 piece socket set for £24).

The tool snobbery* is large with this one! I've got well used Draper stuff that's lasted decades and some of it was my dad's from long ago. And Sealey, not much of theirs but their customer service is impeccable.

* I know I know, it's STW, what do you expect?!

Well I bought the Sealey one as I don't have an advent calendar, and it seems it would be pretty useful as a van tool kit.

I'll update on quality on the 26th Dec.

Not snobbery at all. Perhaps a little bit too much of a sweeping statement but there's reason behind it.

I've bought many a cheap, random brand tools from ebay etc and then bought something Sealey or Draper expecting a known brand to be better only to find the tool to be identical to the no name cheapy.

I've got plenty of Sealey Stuff. Drawers full of sockets and the holders which they sit on. Spanners, pliers etc. Some of it's really nice but it's always the Premier line stuff that's good and everything I've ever bought that was non Premier has been pants.

I'd say anything you've got that's decades is probably not comparable to today's stuff.

That's not just Sealey or Draper. I've got Britool WW spanners for work that are probably 20 years old and apart from being scratched up, they're still perfectly useable. I've got Britool stuff that I bought a couple of years ago and the plating has already worn off on lightly used spanners. The name unfortunately means nothing these days.

Same for vices, buy a Record from the 60s and compare it to a modern one. They both say Record but they're not even close to one another in terms of quality.

I guess it sounded snobby and I'm sure there are exceptions but my experience is that the cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.

I like the look of the Wera tool kits, but in all honesty Nickjb's suggestion on the PSA thread of this Aliexpress tool: Mini 1/4 Ratchet Wrench Rod Screwdriver would probably be more in my price range, for something I might lose

Cheers for putting this on my radar. Makes for a great work-bag tool kit.

Not show are the salt & pepper shakers and bottle opener.

The Sealey one is pretty good too - the only gripe I have is that the plastic holder for the Allen keys is too tight and makes it difficult to get them in and out. But its going to make good tool kit to keep in the van.

There is a guy on YouTube 3d printing add on holders for other wera kits some of them are pure genius. The bottle opener has some heft to it.

Wera tool kit now in the van.

Had to use them to build a set of drawers for my Daughter just before Christmas. Thankfully the bits needed were already opened!
