Just started...
this is annoying me already
siiiiggghhhhhhh
Arrogant prick with glasses....so I might be doing 25 or 30mph....yeah OK..
Personally I would have punched the guy in glasses.
Oh dear!
Shouty man!
I feel sorry for the taxi driver , the cyclist is a total tool.
Good work from the copper.
make this the number one thread.... keep it at the top
crashes are making me wince
Fuel truck faaaarrrrkkkk 😯
That tanker guy should be hunted down.

That tanker guy should be hunted down.
number plate was blanked out, so lets hope he has been. Shame it wasn't a branded tanker though
Just sad
That tanker guy should be hunted down.
hear! hear!
I'm having nasty flashbacks now. Some of those situations are very familiar.
The white fuel truck on the roundabout is the scariest helmet cam video I have ever seen. Lots of these sorts of things I can say to myself "I would never have undertaken that bus" etc etc... But that one could well happen to the best rider in the world.
Honestly I just couldn't watch it I've turned off
chojin is pulling away now...

Seem to recall he was tracked down. Got off on legal technicality. Roundabout is at Homebase, Milngavie, north of Glasgow.
Edit .
Yes, insufficient evidence.

The cyclist talking head is a bit of a tool.
Glasses guy would get a slap from me even on a bike.
Where is he anyway, he has posted before iirc

so it is! was trying to work out where there that was
WHY o WHY do we always get a **** representing cyclists.
Is that copper on acid ??
mikey74 +1. Brakes are your friend 🙁 I made eye contact with the woman who hit me at 30 mph on a roundabout...
I'm gonna be blowing a whistle all the way to work tomorrow morning.
I commute by bike everyday but I don't think I would have the balls to cycle in London.
Scary flashbacks coming from watching the crashes.
I don't commute in a town on a bike (not sure I would after seeing this!) but I was sent flying from the roadbike a few years ago by an elderly gentleman's car at a country roundabout - a bit reminiscent of the tanker coming straight on but luckily without that much speed and the big scary F.O. wheels.
To solve this needs a complete culture change in this country both in terms of awareness and courtesy on both sides but also an emergence of some real experts in road junction layout. Junctions that work in cities safely for both cyclists and motorists. I won't hold my breath.
Get in the cycle lane you tw&t!
Priceless!
bollocks, missed first half. I'm sure due to the unique the way the BBC is funded it'll be on iPlayer but we need a +1 for BBC1...
The lad with the glaases is a COCK and I want to knock him off his bike too
people who ride to find bad driving will find it because they are looking for it. some might say they create their own situations!
highclimber - I very much doubt those that are killed went out looking for it
War on London Village roads, any chance we can throw a wall up around it and leave them all to eachother
I very much doubt those that are killed went out looking for it
that's not what I said.
Heh...cockneys.
I have the strangest desire to stay away from London. It would appear to be full of bellends.
<cough> ponytail</cough>
WHY o WHY do we always get a **** representing cyclists.
Law of averages ? 😉
Point taken 😆
Appropriate use of bed music BBC.
woman who's daughter was killed by a cement truck....
Song choice: DJ Shadow, Organ Donor
It comes to something when the most sensible people on this programme are the taxi drivers!
If you go out looking for trouble, you'll find it. Some of those incidents could have been avoided simply by a bit of forward planning on behalf of the cyclist.
I mean look now, how many cyclists have gone up the inside of an indicating left turn lorry?!
I don't think i'd want to be a cyclist OR a lorry driver in londaaaann
That cement truck driver doesn't like to give any room on the inside does he!
When I got knocked off last time, the doctor who I saw said she had just moved down from London, where she cycled everywhere. She refuses to cycle around here (a largish country town) as it feels too dangerous.
Glasses guy makes me want to sell my bike and buy a taxi.

priceless
Plenty of zombies in London ... 🙄
On both sides ...

Views like this scare me if you're being serious rather than "hilarious". He's only riding his bike FFS.
Heh...bop!
guy who tried to squeeze between the bus and the pick up - what a tool!
Those couriors = 😯
The woman who's daughter was killed looks a tortured soul. Very sad...
Skill = Luck?
Highclimber - yeah sorry, you didn't
Anyway, it's fixie racing now, what we've all be waiting for
As I thought, stupid people exist on bikes and in vehicles.
Two cyclists with glasses - both making good and valid points. One behaves sensibly, the other behaves apparently in a way that seems designed to antagonise. IT Gareth, think about it.
Alf (? Age 77) talked a lot of sense as does the mother who tragically lost her daughter.
Lessons learned - drive and cycle defensively, defuse conflict situations rather than antagonise, don't smack vehicles, take deep breathes, the aggro isn't worth it.
The cycle PC, "I wouldn't call these people cyclists, I would call them criminals." Well said.

The next track, while she was talking about the AGM, was:
Explosions In The Sky - First Breath After Coma
Plenty of zombies in London ...
Thing is, London works remarkably well. Everyone (cyclists, drivers, pedestrians) ignore red lights and act like idiots but surprisingly it all works very well 99% of the time. Organised chaos.
Alf talks a lot of sense, seems like a really sound bloke. Poor guy, losing his grandson like that. 🙁
London can be a pretty brutal place to drive around, let alone cycle. I've done enough of the former to steer me clear of the latter.
So far, the only person talking sense seems to be the mother of the girl killed by the cement truck..............
It's turning out to be quite balanced.
no mention of helmets yet...
Those couriers should have their bikes taken away, crushed into a little can, and forced to drink their own urine out of their bike cans.

It's turning out to be quite balanced.
I'm following this on a car forum too, they seem to agree - minus a bit of a moan about flashing lights
So this was the programme that people were getting ready to write to their MPs about? Seemed fairly balanced to me in the end.
Not as anti bike nor as a sensational as I feared earlier. Makes me think about cycling and driving.
London's fine to cycle in - I have cycled to work off and on, no pun intended, for over 25 years. It is a lot better now as there are so many cyclists, even in the past it was n't bad. I only been knocked off five times and none of those were serious as it was pretty obvious it was going to happen so I could prepare.
Views like this scare me if you're being serious rather than "hilarious". He's only riding his bike FFS.
I was actually +1 the fact he was a COCK but forgot to use the quote function.
If you watch the clip he realises the taxi driver is calming down and walking away so he starts to try and antagonise him by clapping his hands. It seems all he wants to do is ride around looking for footage to post online.
Same production company as 24hrs in A&E?
7yrs central London commuting here-taught me to have 360degree vision on a bike
Good programme, pretty well balanced. I've seen most of the footage before except that HGV in Glasgow on the roundabout. I thought I'd had some near misses (and hits) on roundabouts but jeez, that was scary.
Well done to the BBC for saving licence payers money by not leaving a 1 mile radius of the studio.

You do realise the studio is in Manchester now?
Edit: Oops, that was just BBC Brekkie, apologies.
Same production company as 24hrs in A&E?
Nope
A&E = The Garden Productions
War On Britain's Roads = Leopard Films
Surely should be named "War on LONDONS roads" (ok apart from the scary tanker incident in Glasgow).
Commuting in Cardiff seems pretty damn good now 🙂
Teamhurtmore
totally agree. All the incidents in the programme stem from one road user believing they have more rights than others..Lessons learned - drive and cycle defensively, defuse conflict situations rather than antagonise, don't smack vehicles, take deep breathes, the aggro isn't worth it.
Shame they threw in that courier racing (I assune thats not actually a frequent occurrence) otherwise reasonably balanced.
Cabbie losing his grandson cycling was a bit of a shocker.
Sad thing is, I don't think anyone talking on the programme had changed their views even with the benefit of hindsight 🙁
