I bet it's just as much of a smack in the face as when Scrappy Doo came on the scene 😡

I was surprised that Scooby isn't included. They've reinvented all the characters. Recasting them as Black or Asian doesn't bother me. Having Shaggy as an anti-drug crusader who isn't called Shaggy and doesn't hang out with Scooby removes the main reason for watching it. WTF were they thinking?

It's harder to make me think than most people realize.

WTF? Shaggy is a paranoid stoner who has conversations with his dog. He’s about as anti-drugs as Jeff Lebowski.

I bet it’s just as much of a smack in the face as when Scrappy Doo came on the scene

**** Scrappy

You always know when something is going downhill when they bring in extra characters such as Rugrats with Dil and even way back with the Flintstones with The Great Gazoo.

Thank Christ for Pitch Meetings. If it wasn't for Ryan, I would never have learned that Velma has been renewed for S2.

I mean, I agree, but I'm not sure my productivity stats would 🙂

As with so many things there seems to be a culture war element to much to the reaction to this which makes it hard to ascertain whether it is actually rubbish or whether it's just being snowed under a load of bad faith 'go woke go broke' nonsense from various talking heads, who really aren't racist or homophobic........ honest.

Or the flip side, which is that it's been made to create controversy, have people talk about it and cause division, which is the more likely answer for me, they've taken what was a wholesome cartoon, which was simple and not exactly groundbreaking, and then messed with all the characters, why, just create a new show, Scooby Doo wasn't exactly rocket science, you had the scaredy cats who would always come good at the end, Velma who had it all solved and Fred and Daphne were really just support more than leaders, there was nothing nasty about the characters that i remember to be ridiculing them in a new series?

I find the use of 'Woke' gets banded by both sides, not in the right context as it's not really a word that covers what they're usually arguing about, i can't even keep up with what woke is, was or is being argued about this week!

I'm white.
If I describe myself as woke am I not guilty of cultural appropriation and therefore not woke?

Woke:

1 willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one’s own; open to new ideas.

2 relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy. and free enterprise.

Basically being a decent person. Not rocket science. Unless you’re a frothing right-wingnut.

I was under the impression that "woke" meant you were aware of injustices that most people overlook or ignore. From the woke perspective, being tolerant and believing in civil liberties is of no value if you don't see the injustices around you.

There's a tv show called Woke which illustrates this. It's a great show, much, much funnier than Velma.
