I know several STW dwellers are on anti-depressants so I thought it was worth flagging this up in case your running low on Sertraline.
I put my repeat prescription request in over 2 weeks ago and went to pick up last Friday only to be told by the pharmacy that there is a shortage of 100mg and they couldn't give me 2x50mg. Took ages on hold and then waiting for a call back from the doctors' surgery who finally issued a new prescription for 50mg only for the pharmacy to then tell me that they are now all gone!
I've just picked up a new prescription for Citaprol, the stress of having no Sertraline left was getting really bad. The doctor said that normally I should be weaned off one and on to the other but given the circumstances, I should just carry on with the new one.
Anyway, if you're on Sertraline it's worth checking with your pharmacy to see if there is a shortage in your area so you can sort alternative and avoid the stress and anxiety I've just been through.

Thanks for the heads up.

Worth keeping in mind that for me personally citaprol had a very different effect on me compared to sertraline - headaches, tight jaw and so on. Maybe start on half a pill and work your way up.

Thanks for the heads up from me as well, my son has just gone on this and its started to work.... I think we'll be okay for a while but I'm new to all thislast thing I want is for him to struggle again, we'd just got him settled and happy at school, and now he's upst that he can't go to school (this feels like a small victory, but now worried about him again!).

Oddly I was just going to post about shortages, my dad has been told to limit his heart tablets for a few days as there are no stocks available!

Ahhh, I just got some last week but it explains the ' sorry we haven't got any, nor any idea when we will get some.' comment from the first pharmacy I tried. Second pharmacy was no problem.

Both my wife's and son's medications (not ADs) were not available in full and had to go back to get the rest. Not long got my repeat of Sertraline, but thanks for the heads-up will get my repeat in earlier than the usual week before.

I hope (but doubt) other AD’s are ok, I’ve got a 2 weeks supply left, phoned up earlier in the week to request a repeat but was told I need to call when I have 7 days left, I may start rationing them now just in case

No shortage of sertraline in any of the pharmacies I work in. Script volumes are unusually high for the time of year with everyone stocking up “just in case”. This is clearing out shop stock, which is leading to us placing huge orders. Wholesalers are struggling to deliver on time as they can’t fit everything into vans. Just compounds the problem.
Please don’t order earlier than you need to.

I just had my repeat thankfully, but is there no system that prevents ordering of prescriptions early if you're on a rolling repeat?

I was told on Friday that a couple of my medications were on back order. Got a text Saturday saying my prescriptions were in. Phoned up and they said one was on back order but the other was in. Went in a couple of hours later and was given a full set.

From back order, the manufacturer can’t keep up with demand to all bagged and ready in 2h. I was surprised

Mrs 24k is a GP Pharmacist and is currently spending more time dealing with people that want their meds early "just in case" than doing her normal duties. She is also getting requests for inhalers from people that haven't had them for 3 years. This spike in demand is causing shortages for those who actually need them on a day to day basis. The majority of Inhalers are made in Italy.
The message is that in these extraordinary times there will be shortages but the supply chain will be severely compromised if everyone tries to get their meds early.

I didn't intend to encourage early ordering or stock pilling. My PSA was merely to check your normal pharmacy can get so you don't get a last-minute panic trying to sort it out.
My repeat prescriptions can be ordered online no more than 2 weeks before and take a few days before they automatically get sent electronically to my elected pharmacy. Even for one-off prescriptions, you need to elect a pharmacy which is great when they have stock, not so great when they don't.

I'm glad most others don't appear to have a supply issue, I was told that there is here in East Cambs and also in neighbouring Norfolk.
