Down to £35 on Amazon, been wanting for a while but at £45 did not push the button. At £35 so took a deep breath and bought a set!

What is the best size knipex for general use? Is it these?

We have the 125mm in our toolbags, they go to 23mm so great as a trail tool. A 250mm or 180mm would be fine for the workshop. The 250mm goes to 46mm AF so will handle almost nythuing bike related.

Got a set of 180mm's on their way from Mtytoolshed for £38, thought that was pretty good. They open to 35mm so that should handle most things.

Looking forward to finally getting my mitts on a pair after a few years of lusting after them.

Got mine a bit cheaper on Amazon.de. Might be worth a look

I saw these in the tool roll article, but what makes them so handy? I reckon I'd rather have a good shifter personally.

Better than a shifter I think, it has the variability of a shifter, always parallell, and you can apply pressure to the nut as you undo, prevents slippage dunnit. Plus that can be pliers and great for nipping people in the soft parts.
