It was very odd indeed.
Why would someone who could afford to own and run a helicopter be dealing with a pawn brokers? and why would you take, what you thought was, a £70k-£100k ruby to a pawn broker - surely you'd just go straight to a jewelers?
And how did the pawn broker chap make his money if he was paying full value for stuff?
£15k for a bag?? She and her daughters did sound posh though so maybe high maintenance divorcee.
Overall it came across as a setup.

Quick money to bail out their business
Divorce
They want to buy a Lamborghini NOW, and not bothered about getting top whack for it

and why would you take, what you thought was, a £70k-£100k ruby to a pawn broker - surely you'd just go straight to a jewelers?

Because they may want to buy it back at a later date?

I had a look at his details on companies house.
Set up in 2011 & classed as a risky business with essentially no value.
Seems like it's been set up for TV to me.
