I loved it, comically funny. Matt Lucas’s “ oh shit “ which was a repeated theme made me laugh. Refreshingly different and Over the top.

Matt Lucas was brilliant his character being the polar opposite of Polar.

I loved it, comically funny.

I assume it gets funnier, 45 mins in it's not got the 6 laughs in yet.

So far I'm going with a mix up of the outtakes from Fargo and Kill Bill

Watched it earlier as it was heavily pushed on Netflix (no surprise there) but I have to say I'm going more with The Guardian review of it:
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/jan/24/polar-review-netflix-mads-mikkelsen

It gets similarly panned elsewhere.
https://www.polygon.com/entertainment/2019/1/25/18197450/polar-netflix-review-mads-mikkelsen

And the ending was just shit. Like "we've totally run out of ideas" shit.

Roma for a red wine thoughtful night.
Polar for OMG that's just for the hell, can I get funding for this satire.
Light needs darkness.

Both IMO Ace.

That Guardian review what the hell was he expecting from a film based on a dark comic book about an assassin?

No idea, I wasn't expecting a bad Little Britain meets John Wick, there were 2 films in there neither should have met.
Matt Lucas was completely out of place in there.
And really the over use of the what should we do now? TITS TITS TITS, hang on not sure STRIP CLUB, ASS, STRIP CLUB

It’s the kind of movie that includes not one, but four closeups of a corpse’s erection. If this all sounds good to you, well, it’s just a click away.

And I laughed more at the Guardians closing line than I did the film

Yep, still not seeing the point.... maybe if you were heavily invested in the comics it might make more sense, or it might be a recurring in joke.
As a stand alone film it is just all over the place though

see, it's not like that wasn't obvious, just not that funny, well just not funny and at a complete polar (See what I did there it's a HILARIOUS joke) opposite to the tone of the film with Mads in it.

The execution of the tenants was in a different tone to where the film was, the end was something in another direction altogether but the flash backs never really did their job.

If you feel the need to explain any of the other jokes go ahead....

I did laugh more watching this

There's a degree of responsibility when recommending something on a mtb forum, whether it be a component which we rely upon for safety riding down a hill or a film that we watch with our eyeballs, expending a portion of our lifespan. This film is very poor by any standard. Netflicks can f off, utter rubbish, lowest common denominator bs.

OK so now I'm truly confused, that wasn't in as a joke? Just to check was this a DC comic? I think I'd possibly rather watch Batman vs Supernan again and that is saying something!!

Jesus. What a mess. It's like they didn't know what style of film they wanted to make so just went for a bit of each.

Would have been so much better without the 'zany assassins' aesthetic lifted straight from Smoking Aces (because that was truely shit).

However, I did enjoy it on some level. It would appear Mads Mikkelsen can carry a film.

Alright by me, why was anyone expecting hibrow?

One Q, why was Matt Lucas dressed up as John Lydon?

Anything with Mads is is going to be good. Add Lagatha, Jonny Knox and Matt Lucas into the mix and it can't fail.

Seriously puzzled about what was not to like. Action scenes not as awe inspiring as Mr Wick but a whole lot more laughs.

I didn't laugh, not even at Matt Lucas
The answer was not really

Alright by me, why was anyone expecting hibrow?

Having been spoilt by some of the better marvel stuff I wasn't expecting high brow but at least something that made some kind of sense. If you are going to do gore/death at lease make it for a reason or funny, you can't flip between comic book gore/death/stupidity and serious Mads having a moment in the same film.

Started promisingly, ran out of ideas pretty quick. Action scenes from the halfway point onwards were just boring, frankly.

^^^ The fist laser was uninspired and boring???

The only Marvel I've been able to sit through to the end was Deadpool 1. Each to his own I guess.

It was a bit like someone picked some excellent tasty ingredients , threw them in a bowl & microwaved them for 8 mins.

It was edible but not good , 5/10

Looks like they put every good set piece into an overlong trailer. No need to bother watching it now. Jason Statham must have busy and Mads close by when they found out 😂

Watched it last night. I was planning to watch the first 30 minutes or so and go to bed (I'm a sad oldy, I need my sleep) but watched the whole thing. I loved it - Leon meets Kill Bill. Like Kill Bill you have to suspend disbelief big time and revel in the action. I loved the graphic novel feel to it - bright colours, scenes that would work really well across a double page spread. I skipped the torture though as I'm a wuss.

Recommended - I obviously have no taste.

Saw it last night, enjoyed it. Thought Matt Lucas character could have been cast a little better, whilst he was good, it would avoid my annoying Little Britain flashbacks.

Wasn't the worst film I've seen this year.

Watched it last night too and really emjoyed it. You need to leave your brain at the door and just go with the flow.

I normally hate comic/Marvell films but this was good. Similar to Sin City and suicide squad etc

It would have been a perfect short film if only they had added the twist to the end of the trailer.

Utter trash. Director has only done music videos before and tried to use that style over a full length film and it just comes across as stupid.
Every minute of plot was so clichéd and predictable.. Great if you get off on torture porn, I suppose.

Plenty of stuff I enjoy out there, sorry to say like quite a few other people this wasn't one of them. No need to lighten up just the director could have had 2 films out of the work he put in here. Both might have worked, together it just didn't for me - When a director doesn't seem to know if he is playing it straight or for laughs then the audience won't.

Must admit I was finding the corridor fight so tedious that I may have fast forwarded a bit and missed the laser turret bit. Luckily all the highlights were in the trailer.

That girl from. High school musical has let herself go a bit though.

It's genuinely one of the worst films I've ever seen, I can't believe people are putting it in the same bracket as Kill Bill or even Marvel films, Bad style over absolutely no substance, I can't believe MM read the script and agreed to make the film. FFS two thirds of the film was just the hipster douchebags going around door to door shooting random people as many times as they can. And random saviour woman just appears at the right time and just happens to be a super medic/surgeon/advanced warfare weaponry specialist with no sodding character introduction. I can do the switch your brain off thing but this was just tasteless crap, I like ultraviolence and gore but this was just crap, I like MM but there was nothing he could do to save this steaming heap of crap. The more I think about it the more aggrieved I feel about wasting two hours of my life on the utter bilge stained tripe. When they started singing on the helicopter I said I don't like the look of this but unfortunately somehow my Mrs was hooked.

Just watching it now. Gave up on Dr Strange earlier and thought I'd give this a whirl.

I'm in the shoddy mish-mash camp I'm afraid.

The hipster douchebags (great term, cheers) were so pointless. I realise this isn't reality but the sniper could have just killed the target from a mile away by himself.

Wouldn't recommend or bother watching again.

Well it had it's issues, but I quite enjoyed it.
Lots of silly, comic book violence, some quite funny bits, and a hint of Oldboy in the escape scene.

The sniper annoyed me too, as he could have easily taken all the targets out on his own.

Some good cameos...nice to see Jonny Knoxville and Richard Dreyfuss.
