If you have an old phone to trade in, especially an iphone, you can get some daft trade-in values at the moment - for example, a 2016 iphone SE in decent nick got me £170 off a Pixel 6a, making it £130 (and TCB appears to be tracking a tenner off also, but obviously no guarantees there).

If you have an iPhone 7, it's got a £205 trade in value!

Trade in T&C seems to be looking for phones in good nick, but apart from that I thought this might work for some..(apart form losing wireless charging, which is a shame, I prefer the size on the 6a to the Pixel 6)

Interesting..... Mrs SB would like a new phone.
Currently rocking a 6S from around that era and has actually said she might consider an android as she like the photos from my Pixel 6.

I'll see how much I can get off.

Did you receive the refund yet? I have an iPhone8 that's in decent condition and it says I'd get £225 for it but seems you pay upfront and get refunded after the phone's been inspected. Googling the trade-in scheme suggests there's very little chance of getting what they actually claim.

Very much this. I can get an iPhone 12 from giffgaff "used" for 399, and that scheme is offering 435 trade in. I know there's a margin in there, but I just can't see how it's going to actually pay out. I'd rather just have the discount, thanks very much.

Well they either give you a minimum 75% of the trade in (and you have to accept) or if they don’t you can just tell them no thanks and return the pixel (if within time, not opened etc - all the timings seem on the buyer’s side for trade-in valuation)

I’ll report back what happens 🙂

I traded in my pixel 4a (trade in value was £200 but that was 6 months or so ago). I got the promised value no problem, even though it was itself a warranty replacement and the battery didn't hold much charge (but clearly enough to verify that it turned on ok).

The most worrying part was that the post office wouldn't give me proof of postage for the pre-paid box. I instead got tracking details by email that afternoon.

I think Google do it for the green credentials rather than for profit. I was very happy though.

Nice. Tempted to do this for my partner who's SE needs charging throughout the day. My 2 year old Pixel 4a can go 2 days between charges.
Why is the the 6a suddenly so cheap?

John Lewis is doing something similiar for the 6a- you get a £100 extra on any tradein, which I think isn't going to be the best option for everyone, but does work really well if you have an old crap phone to trade. I got offered £8 for my broken old pixel 3 so a bonus £100 would be very nice. Free case with the phone, too.

Admittedly this was in the US, but I managed to upgrade from a 5a to a 6a for free.

$449 RRP for the 6a
-$150 for black Friday sale
-$299 for my old 5a
=$0 (although I did have to pay some sales tax that was covered by some store credit I had)

This was in the US, but Google did refund the whole $299 offered for my 5a. That said it was in excellent condition, so I don't think they could have found reasonable grounds not to have done the refund.

Well said I'd report back and I have been given the full £170 for my 2016 SE, so that's £130 for the 6a - pleased with that 🙂

when did you send your trade in? According to RM tracking they got mine on the 22nd December and have only just notified me of receipt and that's it's progressed to 'inspecting device'....

Has anyone received their cashback on the trade ins?

The pixel 7 is cheaper than before £499 and have been offered a whopping £205 trade in for my S10.
Plus 5% topcashback.

yep, I got mine in the end. I put my trade in down as poor condition as it was bumped up in value to the better condition value when they inspected it, so all good.

If you're going for it don't forget to subscribe to google one 2Tb for a couple of months to get 10% store credit (you can cancel it once you receive the store credit - 30 days after purchase), and also go via topcashback for even more back.

Quick update.
Received my Google Pixel 7 and been using it for a couple of weeks.

Just had confirmation from Google for my trade in of £205 for my old S10.
So after topcashback and trade in the pixel 7 has cost me £274. Really pleased with that.

Yeah, been using my 6a half a week now.
They offered me 60 bones for my old 3a.
They've just confirmed receiving it so hopefully it'll pass

£240 for a newey ain't too bad.

Just checked the Google trade-in on the Google store and they're still offering £205 for Samsung S10 512gb exactly what I traded in. 👍

[Stealth Ad] I went to Apple shortly after getting mine from Google (nothing wrong with phone, it was amazing and battery lasted forever, just really missed a smaller phone so got a 12 Mini - which has a shocking battery!), so if anyone wants an immaculate 6a, boxed, with equally immaculate Spiegen liquid air case - £230 posted. Apparently they're not taking in 6 pros against 7s.

Can't say I blame them, the 6 pro is by far the shittest phone I've owned in at least 10 years

I ordered a Pixel 6 from the Currys £299 PSA on here in January. My wife likes it, and needs a new phone. Will she notice much difference in a 6A?

Purchase a Pixel 7 a few weeks ago, and this happened to me on trade-in. I put my iPhone 12 mini down as poor condition, but without cracks. (it was two years old, so plenty of wear and tear). I recieved pay out for what would have been phone in good condition.

I was a bit dubious, some poor reviews for PCS online. But I had a great experience.

Love the Pixel! apart from the fingerprint unlock, which is a bit hit and miss

Does the trade-in phone have to be registered to you?

e.g. could my mate trade in my old phone ?

My left thumb works every time, right thumb approx 70% success.

Apparently quite common

Regards the fingerprint unlock. I found it shonky at first and after searching online, it was recommended to set up the fingerprint in a dark room.
Tried that and now fingerprint is great 99% of the time.

You HAVE to wipe them before you send them in. The source of the phone doesn't matter. I've bought cheap iphone's off ebay to use as trade in's when the trade in values are high.
