Agreed, Millet (Meeelay) Froggy mountaineering kit is ace. Millet's, UK purveyors of 'outdoor' tat is not so ace though sometimes they make a mistake and sell good stuff cheeeeeeeep.
I've a couple of bits of PHD kit and it's eye-wateringly expensive but it's really top quality. I've also some Alpkit down kit and it's perfectly functional but not in the same league quality wise as the PHD stuff.
20% that's not a sale. I'll stick with the Montane outlet.
It's 20% off the already reduced bargain box prices...
Montane? Montane is to PHD as Dacia is to Aston Martin... Philistine 🙂
Oh! Sorry missed that.
Montane is superb stuff.
Oooh. Oooh. My bag's being delivered tomorrow.
I should think so after being 'in production' for 20 days 🙂
Good choice, at least there's one other discriminating bod on STW 😉
PHD stuff is fantastic. Good prices really for effectively custom gear.
Wish there were more companies like them.
Well, I do quite like that they make stuff to order in the UK. S24O weekend after next 😀

Web pages dont work on mobile, I'm out.
Puffa jackets for midgets and fatties, only £150!
Cheers for the heads up. 😐
Remind me to place an order as soon as I've remembered to spend £175 on a belt. 😆
Ooo another philistine 😉 It's not a puffa jacket you nit wit. It's a high spec, very high quality duvet jacket. Sigh, pesky kids. 🙂

How dare you I'm actually part Jewish. 👿
A better comparison would be between a BSO and a Santa Cruz (or any decent brand of bike).
For a premium.brand their logo isn't half a crock of shite!
That'd put me off wearing their stuff personally, makes the kit look really cheap and nasty.

Not that sort of philistine (the one with the capital 'P'), the other sort, silly.
And they're not a 'premium brand'. They're the manufacturers of premium equipment. They've deliberately avoided all the fluffy brand cobblers and quietly got on with making high quality, niche products, really well.
Badge collectors go and buy whatever shite 'mountaineering kit' is being worn on the high street these days so the other badge collectors can easily recognise your worthy purchases... 😉
Logo? PHD are just about UK made quality and design.
Where else will you get a choice of 4 lengths and 4 widths for sleeping bags for not much more than a mass market bag? My long/wide Minim 200 was £223 in the sale this year. 580g and more importantly a perfect fit.
Even at full price good value particularly for anyone who isn't average height and weight.

Imagine the shame this lot must feel because they haven't got a dinosaur skeleton logo on their kit.... http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/phd-expedition-news
The standard "budget" option Alpkit aren't that cheap now. The Pipedream 400 is rated to -6C, costs £200 and weighs 865g. The nearest PHD bag is the Minim 400 which is rated to -5C, costs £330 and weighs 670g.
Alternatively the nearest (or one of them) PHD bag in weight is the Minim 600 at 900g, costs £392 and is rated to -16C. For -16C the nearest Alpkit model is the Arctic Dream 1000, at 1500g, costs £345. Not much in it apart from the extra 600g of the Alpkit.
It looks like for the more summer oriented kit then Alpkit is much cheaper but once you get to the serious stuff there isn't much in it. However a lot of the PHD lightweight summer stuff is aimed at those who really do want high performance and light weight/bulk. For that you are going to pay a premium. Light, quality, cheap: pick two.
You got it. It's exceptionally high quality, often bespoke, technical kit not cheap copies made in Taiwan or PRC and imported by the container load.
There's a place for cheap knock offs, I've even bought some. But comparing the two is like comparing apples with rhubarb... 😉
