There's a NEW app (not just update, but new app that needs installing in place of the old app) in play/ios store that once installed, adds loads of functionality and 'better' screen views to our original Pebble watch!

Much better calendar view (can read notes etc on the item), better music control, looks funkier..

That is all...

Thanks. Also, had amazing service after having the screen tearing issue. Mailed them on a Saturday, had a reply within 20 minutes and a new one despatched the next day! Just considering selling the replacement and going for a Pebble Time Steel, but I prefer the look of the classic steel.

ahh... mine has been tearing for some time too, though better with this update (I think)
Is it a hardware issue then? (Youtube videos have had people taking the watch apart and stuffing tissue in there..)

Good to hear the support is on the ball. I'm just waiting delivery of a Time Steel.

Pebble seem to have nailed what a smart watch should do. Notifications well, anything that works better on the phone leave it there and have a watch that can make it through the day (week even) without needing to see a charger.

Have to agree - got original pebble in airport for £50 and so impressed. So simple but does it so well. Quite tempted by the Pebble Time for £90 on amazon...

As one of the first Kickstarter backers I'm still liking my Pebble 🙂

Cheers, Rich

Like turnoferret I too have the kickstarter and still use it daily. The 'new' software is about 6 months old and is a huge improvement over the old one. All I need now is some better eyes so that I can read it!!

Are you on about this? Pebble

I've had this installed for a while on my OG, it is good.

I haven't used mine for ages - didn't really have any good use cases for it.

Gone back to analogue...

What do you want you want for it?

I've always really fancied one but could never justify the expense (and I'm kinda broke at the mo anyway).

@cougar. Fishing phones out is frowned upon where I work so a means of checking notifications more discretely is desirable.

Also saves getting the phone out to check forthcoming schedule etc.

I can't see the point of Android Wear or iWatch as too many apps are too fiddly on a small screen and are better used on a phone.

Plus the battery life stinks

My Time Steel has just arrived and is being charged as we speak...

It IS that update...
THough it may have been out for 6 months, oddly the app/watch never told me a new one is out.
It's only when setting up a new phone i noted it!

Cougar; I use mine for:
Seeing who's calling, and hanging up if it looks like spam/work(hang up from the watch)
Quick read of texts - is it important?
Controlling spotify
erm, I can control my heating if I want to...

The benefit of the Pebble is it's simplicity..
I CAN'T web surf, facebook, or SEND texts..hence why the battery lasts a week.

For example, if I'm ona ride and I get a PPI call, I ignore it..
If there's a text saying "the kid's eaten a battery", I can deal with it!

If you use your phone for Endomondo etc it integrates with that really well too. I like the vibrating alarm wake up call for when I don't want to disturb the Mrs and the reminders are handy too.

And with the time and time steel you can reply to texts via voice dictation which works very well (I've just been insulting my sure by it :)).

For a quick reply much easier than digging the phone out etc.

View it as a wrist based notification centre as opposed to fill blown wrist computer and you're about there.

The time and time steel also have fitness tracking built in*(excluding an HRM) and the normal pebbles have plenty of third party apps to do the same (Misfit being the best).

Well,

Jim of this parish (and thread) sent me his Pebble in return for a charity donation, which was incredibly generous of him. However,

had amazing service after having the screen tearing issue. Mailed them on a Saturday, had a reply within 20 minutes and a new one despatched the next day!

... whilst fine the last time he used it, it now suffers from this issue. I emailed support who came back with "out of warranty, would you like 25% off a new one?" Gonna try the Internet's fix on it next I reckon, seems like a froody bit of kit when it actually works.

monkeyp > not that I can probably afford it right now but out of interest, how much would you be looking for for it?

Too rich for me I'm afraid. On the upside, I think I've fixed mine. Currently sporting a ICARS face because, well, Geek.

Didn't someone of this parish write a face? Some sort of sweary clock?
