If you have a clear sky tonight, get out around 9pm and have a look at the moon. There's a lovely alignment with Mars.
Nice one. Something to look out for while the dog is running round the fields 🙂
Cheers
Nice. I'll try and take the wee one outside for a peek before she goes to bed.
don't take the p1ss, but what does that mean?
Cheers for the tip. Mrs. Willard is always on at me to do a bit more stargazing with her.
What is the alignment? Where should I be looking for Mars?
It's da Wolf Moon

As a bonus, Mars will be just to the left of the moon tonight. Look for the reddish, star-like object.

Looking rather nice....
Nice. ta
Love this stuff,
clear as a bell in Notts and Mars coming in loud and clear.... Always gobsmacking
Thanks for the info.
Thought the moon was pretty spectacular earlier this evening.
Little lad is chuffed he's seen Mars! 8)
Looking good over the Forth, clear skies and Mars is looking red.
It does look pretty, but I can't quite resist being utterly pedantic. This place must be getting to me.
They're 2 points. They're always going to be aligned, or not. Unless they're both aligned with something else?
Thanks for posting this druidh - we're well chuffed with how bright Mars is tonight. And the wolf moon is utterly beautiful. I had a moon shadow at 5:45 tonight 🙂
ACE - really clear sky plus, somehow, a tiny dusting of snow on the ground while my back was turned
Cool, ta just took the little lad out in his pj's for a look. General response was daddy I'm cold, but I think he liked it 8)
Not a great picture, but the view from our room tonight.
Mars just left of the chimney.

my camera wont focus on it .........grrrrrrrrrr
Yep we spotted it on the walk to the pub.
my camera wont focus on it .........grrrrrrrrrr
My digicam autofocus won't settle on a sharp image when it's strapped to the end of a telescope and it was cloudy by the time Mars was near enough to the moon to get a decent picture. This was about the best I managed.....
are those runways - with treadmills ?

Do you and your family all live in one room then? Crikey, it's grim up North 😉
I love feeling this small - in an existentialist/cosmic kinda way, and not 'cos it's so cold!
It's another good night for moon / mars gazing
My effort a little earlier

Fantastic moon coming out of Bath tonight. Coming along the Lower Bristol Road after a visit to PCWorld it was really low in the sky directly in front of me. Looked absolutely huge!
what is the bright star at the 12 oclock position (viewing here in the UK) above the Moon at the moment?
My little one has just asked me.
Mars
very nice cheers for the (ahem) heads up on that
Cool. My son's homework this weekend involved looking at the stars so thanks for the info.
DSLR - check
200mm lens - check
tripod - check
cable release - check
It's cloudy 🙁
3rd night in a row of this amazing moon and Mars is now directly above.
Just come back from taking some pictures over New Mills in Derbyshire.
I was wondering why it was so bright Friday night! So it wasn't just the alcohol working...
