Set thirty-odd years after the original comic/film events, apparently closer in tone to the comics than the film, which I did enjoy.

Ah! I cancelled my Now TV.

That partially answers the age old question?

I , for one, will be watching the watchmen.

Just the first episode though , right?

Not the whole season?

Edit: just checked the app on my phone and it's one a week after they've been aired in the US. So, no binging allowed.

PP; very good!

Thanks CZ for the OP. As I’ve not seen it mentioned, Rick & Morty season 4 returns next month.

Not the whole season?

I've found, with other series I've downloaded on Sky - soon as you finish one episode it starts downloading the next. (Broadband is at a premium in my house). I presumed it would be like that.

I presumed it would be like that.

It appears not.

It's one a week  on Monday Morning after it's aired in the US on the Sunday night in a Game of Thrones stylee

From some of the main people that were behind The Leftovers so I have very high hopes for this. Who watches the Watchmen? I do when I get my work out of the way.

Cool. Cos I've had things where I watch an ep on Sky, then one on Download I get 2 lots of it, the follow on download and the series link recording. It's veh confusing for a old geez.

Watched ep.1 on NowTV today, was engaging enough as a "non-fan".

ep2. is not available yet so looks like a weekly thing.

Interested, but I’ll wait until it’s all out and then binge a few at once. One per week just seems like a dated concept to me nowadays.

Enjoyed that, and it had some good call-backs to the original source material. Looking forward to ep.2 and glad it wasn’t released in one tranche, as otherwise would be seriously tired tomorrow.

Just finished watching it, I delayed starting watching the recording so’s I could ffwd through the adverts. Looking really good, as drlex says the references to the origin material keep your attention on it, in case something gets missed.
Hope that wasn’t the end of Archie, and Don Johnson’s tenure was pretty brief!

Very strong start, I loved the movie - obviously the movie ending was different to the comics which you should know before watching this, otherwise... Squids? Lol

Loved the little touches, the nite owl mug, 'Unforgettable' playing in the background. Episode 2 please!

Just watched Ep 1. Bit confused about some things, but looks good so far, I assume the mysteries will be cleared up later (Jeremy Irons, for example).

(Jeremy Irons, for example).

My money is on him being Ozymandias, despite the newspaper headline proclaiming him to be dead.

Which doesn't mean anything to someone who hasn't read the comics. Also, the raining squid thing.

I thought that, on the whole, it could have used a bit more exposition to explain what the hell was going on. I was scratching my head at parts and i've read the comics and watched the squid-free movie three days ago.

It must have been verging on the incomprehensible for someone going in cold.

It looked awesome though. Actually, less confusing than Doom Patrol, no idea what that was about despite watching it from start to finish.

Being set thirty years after the original comics, there are bound to be parts that are confusing, but I guess the writers felt that most people watching would have a reasonable grasp of the original material, exposition would only add unnecessary’bulk’, better to let the story unfold as it would in a book, or comic, in the same way the original did, and that was monthly, not weekly!
Some might be interested in the soundtrack, which is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross; it’s being released on vinyl, in a series with different artwork, to follow the flow of the series. There will be a digital download, but no other physical release than vinyl.

Big thumbs up from me. The shot for shot Snyder film looked great but didn’t work so well as a film. This has real potential.

The NYT REVIEW hits the mark

In what way, and, have you actually watched it? Or is that comment based on nothing but a dislike of genre tv/film in general?

That was amazing.

I haven't read the comics so a lot of it was a mystery to me also, but I love that. Very much sick of really obvious tv, so a show that asks a lot of questions is very welcome in my book

I kinda liked it in the end. But why did Don have to die so early? Thats probably the strangest incident in it... innit.

Anyway, I too will wait a week for the next episode. I don't do binging me.

If you haven't read the graphic novel then a quick watch of one of the YouTube Easter egg/reviews will help. I've read it a few times and these were still helpful.

Apprehensive about this, the film was about 90 minutes too long and the usual Snyder nonsense that could have been condensed into a music video. Wasn't a fan but if it's a step away from that I'd give it a go.

You clearly don’t know much about Alan Moore, he hates every interpretation of anything he’s ever written, irrespective of the quality!
Not entirely sure what you mean by the last bit of your post, unless you’re a Trump-supporting white supremacist who views any alternative view as leftist commie propaganda...
The events in Tulsa in the first episode actually happened, that’s fact, not fiction.

Episode 3 is very good. Things are starting to come together. Very interesting new character emerges.

Is Veidt in some kind of simulation?

I reckon he's on Mars, trapped inside a construct of Dr Manhattans, hence the small "mistakes" - Episode 3 has convinced me to stick with it. The Watchmen naysayers will say that it's an afront to the book and what moore had in mind, but at least they've kept it squidy

I’ll third that view, although Jeremy Irons’ accent slightly troubles me. It seems to echo that of Reversal of Fortune, and I am almost expecting him to say “that was the year Sunny drank too much eggnog”.
The contents of Laurie Blake’s attaché case was a little surprising.

I thought it was more like when he was Simon Gruber in Die Hard 3 trying to do an American accent

The building he's in seems significant, the kid was building it in episode two:

I thought the GameWarden might be Manhattan, but then Manhattan wouldn't care whether Veidt was killing Buffalo, also, the Black Freighter pirate flag will probably be significant somehow I presume........ok, it must be good if it's keeping me thinking about it, Eastenders doesn't do this

Half remembering the comic, sorry graphic novel, I wonder if Lady Trieu is half sister to Agent Blake? If she bought Veidt’s company, she may turn out to be his warder.

I'm guessing that Trieu is the one holding Veidt due to the cloning and business takeover, I also think that her daughter is a clone of herself due to Will's reply, and he seemed pretty spritely and gave the impression they'd known each other a long time. Really digging the series so far.

I was very unimpressed with the first couple of episodes but (unusually for me) stuck with it and I'm certainly warming to it now though I don't really know what's going on. I expect to be loving it just as it ends.

Wondering if Veidt  is in an alternate dimension and  what he perceives to be his cloned servants are actually alien squid.

He fires them out of  his dimension in his catapult and they rain down on earth in ours.

Which lake?

In the last episode, the lake full of clone fetus babies...

On a breakdown video I watched they think veidt's timeline is one year per episode, the anniversary cakes have the same candles as the episode number, so he's now 4 years in of being incarcerated.

In the next episode trailer they also allure to multiple dimensions, looking glass mentions this when he talks about the squid.

Great. Multiple dimensions, multiple timelines, this is getting like westworld but more complicated!

Mmm, I was wondering where the corpses would end up. This theory would be far from the strangest thing on the show.

Veidt is actually inside Lady Trieu's giant clock.
Will is actually Dr Manhatten.
Red Mist is actually a pro wrestler.
Wade is actually the boss of the 7th cavalry.
I actually have no idea what is going on in this series.

Elephants never forget, doesn't everyone know that?

The mega clock opens a portal and turns the entire 7th Kavalry into Mini-Manhattans?
Or is it waking up Daddy Manhattan in order for him to stop the portal plot?

I dunno, still confused.
