I'd rather watch The Professionals -Masterchef, where Bodie and Doyle get humbled by a cracking Haggis recipe from Cowley.

And then the two lads bust in on the voiceover woman and put her out of our misery.

Everyone knows Doyle did the cooking, he was always knocking up a bit o' pasta or something.

Yeah it was a bit meh. Should have listened to you, Flashy.

The least few episodes of the last series were brilliant. It's a bit pants at the beginning.

Within 10 minutes, someone said 'Cooking is my life...' 😐

It's all fixed anyway - the plucky Lancashire girl, the slightly arrogant personal chef or the Irish lad will win the heat, because they have the backstory and personality the producers believe will appeal to the most audience members.

About as much to do with food as Top Gear has to do with cars.

I've tried to watch it from that cynical viewpoint, I've really wanted it to be that crass.. but it's just not

it's good telly, love it.. besides, my other half is from a catering background so it's compulsory viewing in the yunki household..

I find that the slower bits are made easier by using a tip that I picked up on here..
When they start playing the little iffy techno and house snippets (as they do every thirty seconds) just imagine that it's Michel Roux Jr on the decks, getting down with his bad self and chopping up the beats for you to eat for dinner..

Some of the winners in recent years have been really good chefs with some really fresh and original ideas

Actually, I like Masterchef as it involves people who love something developing their skill in it.

But it's not a true competition, as those who have the greatest viewer appeal are always selected to proceed.

IMO, anyway.

Call it seeding or a fix, amounts to the same thing.

Sorry, but that's the way it appears to work.

It's the x factor for chefs. Nothing else.

Very true.
Just as Downton Abbey is Eastenders for people who consider themselves above soap operas. 🙂

Indeed it is, although it does put things in an historical context. i.e. you can see the times they are a chang'in.

I suppose the recession has reduced the public's interest in property programmes so they'll be doubling up on cookery. Make no mistake I love cooking I'm bored to tears of this, give me Saturday Kitchen anytime.
