f1 speed special next thursday at 9 on ch 4.... looks quite a laugh... Cheif 😀
Aah. He's usually on C4 and so is F1. This could get good.
Tea
Chief
Sideburns
Fancy a Pint d'ya?
Ta for the PSA
By 'eck chief...
Just seen the trailer - set to record, looks a right laugh.
Eh, I bet that shifts like.
Does Terrahawk(?) ride a de-restricted e-bike for a speed comparison?
It's David Couldthard - Guy doesn't need an S1000RR - Honda CB90 will be fine!
Rachel
did anyone notice his Team JMC hat?
Also, Easter Monday, Wall of Death LIVE.
massive wall of death, 80-odd mph, Guy Martin, live on telly.
maybe the most epic thing ever. maybe.
stick with it until you see the wall they've built...... 😯
Bloody hell!
That's not a wall, that's a vertical road!
Gi's a go Mister 😛
What the...!?
Holy moly now that's a wall !!
Can't wait to watch.
Flippin Eck Chief, he aint is he? 😯
Amazing, can't wait!!!!
Crikey.
I bet i could drive a forklift better than him, though. So there's always that.
I'm going and standing on the top of it while he does it too! MEGA
Slalom..... really?
Bike wins acceleration
Car wins braking
Car is shit at slalom due to aero
Guy says by eck a few times
Both pretend to race a lap of silverstone. One wins by a cock hair..
One programme too far/soon Guy me ol cocker
Why's the car on wets?
Aye lost credibility with that one in the dry.. Good craic between them so far though!
Oh dear.
'this is how they change gear'
'this is how fit the drivers are'
'blahblahblah'
C'mon, looks like they had a right laugh! Great programme

One out of five is pretty poor even by STW standards.
God dam it, which one did I get right?
There is something wrong with any man who didn't enjoy that program.
Maybe I turned it over to Jo Brand walking around the countryside too soon.
Voiceoverman was boring me and car vs bike has been done to death. Then there's team Guy turns up in a van blah and I felt like I watched it a few times before. Sounds like I should have stuck with it

it was just a bit dumbed down, and felt a bit like an infomercial.
maybe they had to re-think things and do something a bit more simple after Guy spanged himself.
Coulthard has a massive amount of more natural ability than Martin, however Martin has a massive amount of more charisma.
OK'ish programme but did not expect anything more.
As said, bike V car been done to death.
Would like to see a £ per lap comparison to put it all in perspective, or Redbull V Tyco budget.
Having re-read my post, I can see grammatically I have quaffed too much Stella toneet.
Of course it was dumbed down. It has to appeal to everyone. If my wife can sit and watch it for an hour and enjoy it then I think they have succeeded as she has no interest in f1 or motorbikes. As much as I would love more technical information it would be boring for others. Just enjoy it for what it is.
I quite enjoyed it and it's better than the usual pap thats on TV.
What if you put *say* Rossi against *say* Hamilton? On/In their machines.
Rossi would kick him off 8)

Which one of them has crashed on a warm up lap? (Twice iirc) and which of them is a "professional racing driver" as a hobby?
Just watched - good fun.
Bit of nonsense really, but enjoyable.
The extra 4min film on the Channel 4 website is pretty good too.
"Articulate? - is that the word... Articulate?"
I recorded it so I FF'd through all the dumbed down BS and just watched the salient bits. It was all a bit obvious though.
I like Guy Martin but why does he have to say everything twice?
I combined watching this with porter and fish pie. Winner.
Total drivel but an hour of low demand entertainment. Tellybox, innit.
I thought there was about 15mins of interesting TV in it, but still watched all of it.
It was just a bit of fun. No baby robins were crushed (on camera anyway).
Rossi Vs Guy - would there be much in it? I don't doubt Rossi would probably be a bit quicker, but not enough to make up for the fact that the car's are 25% quicker than the bikes.
Would have been interesting to see a GP bike Vs F1 car though, I reckon it would have won the drag race with 30odd more horsepower, but I suspect Guy's brakes are nigh on the same as the GP bikes though.
Crazy watching the car go around the outside of the bike in the corners.
I think Guy was surprised at how laid-back DC was.
Guy's brakes are nigh on the same as the GP bikes though.
Not in dry conditions - GP bikes have carbon discs whereas superbikes are mandated to have steel. GP bikes run metal discs in the wet.
Once up to race pace a superbike isn't that far behind a GP bike but on outright acceleration and braking a GP bike is a fair way ahead. Particularly if they'd had Dani Pedrosa riding his Honda 😀
Reasonably entertaining...
They should have let Guy have a go in the car, AND they should have a return race around the IoM.
(I found it funny that DC was scared of the bike 🙂 )
Would the braking be that much better though, the limiting factor in a straight line is keeping the rear down, not brake power or front grip.
Two challenges in and it looks biased to prevent the F1 car stomping it - inters on it in the drag race, lockup from the cones in the deacceleration err race. But you know, they gotta keep it interesting - good stuff otherwise. 🙂
Did DC really not know which way a bolt undoes?
Prolly been awhile since he's done much of that. Appreciate voiceover dude has to make it sound exciting but it was all pretty one sided.
The least interesting of all GM's shows IMO. Pretty ***ing pointless in fact.
I found it funny that DC was scared of the bike
He's never been that keen on fast bikes, I went to our local academy with him and raced motocross to a similar national level when he was coming up through the karting and formula ford race scene so we used to go to each others events - he tried my bikes a few times (KX100/KX125/KX250) but was never that confidant on them compared to someone who was raised on two wheels and vice versa i tried his karts and formula fords which i was pretty crap at compared to him - he never won the championship in F1 but he still has immense natural talent behind the wheel of a car.
^Cool!
Shame, it could have been very interesting, turned out to be less interesting than a bad episode of Top Gear
I sat in passenger seat of his car as the licence holder when he was still on L plates.
5 miles was far enough to get the turbo glowing on his Renault 5 gt turbo. Amuses me that he's now doing Road safety ads.
I remember that wee renault 5 gt turbo in 5th year at school, if i remember correctly it was a freebie from renault and our fav run was out to the Doon bay and back, totally irresponsible fun but like you say seeing a turbo almost reach critical meltdown was amusing to our feeble brains at the time.
EDIT : His driving museum/F1 collection has moved to my workplace here , quite decent and there is a Red Bull F1 actual size driving simulator that is good fun, the car is on hydraulic rams so you get the full effect.
