I'm very lucky to have the store near me so grabbed some bargains over the years. However they are now on eBay too so seems other might get a chance too.

Good for you. Me too funnily enough but they stopped doing them or at least for the humble public.

Motane really got the idea of their lightweight stuff for cycling well ahead of everyone else.

It's my go to stuff for chucking in a pocket. Had it for years.

Wasn't ever hugely waterproof but that was the secret as the big bulky waterproof stuff doesn't last and was too hot.

I was dismissive before.

I'm a huge Montane fan, imo it's easily as well made as older Patagonia stuff. Really nice details and simplicity in the designs. Some struggle with the fit, but it's spot on for me.

Yes the old clearance list pricing was a pleasure, sadly no more.

I still have a pile lined pertex jacket with both waist and hem drawcords and pockets that work as vents that is 20 years old. It still works perfectly for just the above reason - its not waterproof but when you are working hard it almost seems to push the water away with the heat you generate inside. Was 120 quid in 1998 though

Even better with an extra 25% discount on top, was superb.

Thanks Drac, good PSA. This may still come in handy even though I live in Newcastle. It's still an hour round trip + browsing time, at limited times, and no guarantee they'll have what I'm looking for. No mention of collection on the eBay pages, but it would be worth an ask if I was buying something (for me, if I was heading that way anyway).

Yes, when are outdoor brands going to start sampling in a STW-friendly XXL? Arc'teryx is the same, sells off all its medium salesman's samples on Sportpursuit. VERY UNFAIR!!

Like any sample sale, seconds or end of line it’s pot luck. There were a lot more sizes a couple of days ago.

BWDog.... most of my current cycling jackets are from the Berghaus outlet centre at Gretna which is on,y 1/2hr from me. I pick up Montane stuff if Cotswold in Carlisle have it on offer, my kids live in Carlisle so I take a look whenever I can. MrsT occasionally works in Edinburgh so I sometimes accompany her and go shopping there

Yeah small jaunt from you Trekster it’s near Ashington not a place that’s on the tourist maps to be honest. Best bet is to keep an eye on the Ebay store. Their Facebook page also often gives an idea of what might be available.

I reckon they're made for SP and just labelled as 'samples' so as not to undercut their retail customers. Too many sold to all be samples esp as they're often of production items for which they'd need no new samples.

Troutwrestler couldn't be bothered to click on the links to see the different sizes too which wouldn't help.
