PSA: no vapour gloves or trail gloves in there 😢
My last three pairs of Moabs have fallen apart. The first was replaced as they arrived defective, but the replacements didn't last long and my latest and more expensive Gor-Tex jobs started "clicking" after a couple of months.
Have I been unlucky, or has the quality of whatever act as cushioning in the soles taken a nose dive?
Yikes I hope not. I bought my current Merrells in a sale for £75 10 years ago. I've worn through all the insides and the from of one sole is hanging off, I thought that as pretty good value, and hope this new pair last the same.
My gortex moabs didn't last as long as I'd hoped, but when I looked at the soles they were well worn and to be fair I'd been using them for well over a year of dog walks.
Not owned a pair of Merrell's for ages and had forgotten how ugly they are. Thanks for reminding me.
Ta, have been looking for deals on some new Merrells as mine (years old!) could do with replacing. Hopefully quality still ok! Up to 9% cash back as well via Quidco apparently!!
some of the shoes are pretty tragic and I wouldn't wear them "casual", agreed 😂 But for walking, couldn't care less, just want something that fits & is comfy - Merrell are the best I've tried so far (for me)!Not owned a pair of Merrell’s for ages and had forgotten how ugly they are. Thanks for reminding me.
👍
After 2 pairs of self destructing Keen Targhees and 1 pair of Keen Explore prior to those that had flat soles within a year I have switched to Merrell for my dog walking/hiking boots/shoes.
Early signs are promising (well vaguely acceptable) but the conclusion i have come to is Out of the Box comfort comes at the cost of durability/life.
Worth keeping an eye on Amazon. I got my Gore-tex MOAB mid boots for £65 not too long ago. The prices fluctuate worse than the stock market, so worth a🐪 🐪🐪 reminder of anyone is not in a rush. They're super comfy and easily pass the wet grass test on the dog walk. I don't expect them to last as long as my old Berghaus Explorers, but they're way nicer to wear so I can live with that for price.

EDIT: Same experience I had with some of their non - Gore-tex walking shoes. The sole wore away and they fell to bits. They also weren't waterproof. They were pretty cheap and very comfy though.
what ross said +1
i paid the same for mine a few weeks back
