I know a lot on here hate the big energy suppliers but they've just reduced my leccy rate by a third as an existing customer. Decent customer service centre as well so was pain free.
Currently showing top on uswitch.

Have you got the right company?

Worst energy company I have ever used and they have just been voted worst provider for the sixth year running. (On Radio 4 yesterday lunchtime)

I know that we all have different experiences but they were genuinely shocking.

OVO are great in my opinion and if anyone wants a £25 Amazon Voucher let me know as they will give us both a voucher if referred by me!

OP you are winding us all up, you have to be.

Akchewally they are a pile of shite and I'm still waiting for a refund of £79 overcharged, from a year ago.

You work for them and I claim my £5 (rather have my £79 though thanks)

They overcharged me for 2 years, without any resolution. Never did fully refund me, I just gave up. Completely and utterly shit.

Annoyingly when I did a comparison they were also the cheapest by some margin.

They're awful. We moved into a new rental property last November and immediately switched supplier as we knew how bad they are and and they still haven't sent us the correct final bill.

As above, npower are an awful, awful company to deal with.

I could write a small book on my ongoing saga with them but as an example; I've lost count of the number of times I've had threatening calls/letters from debt recovery companies acting on their behalf despite not owing them a penny. When I've called npower to resolve the issue it's common for them to hang up on me. I know someone who works there and it's common practice to hang up on customers with 'complicated' problems.

I'm still paying for an account that was closed 2 years ago. Utterly useless and with the most aggressive customer service department I have ever dealt with.

As for the Energy Ombudsmen they were a joke too. When I contacted them as a last resort they said I should have contacted them earlier. How the hell was I meant to know that I only had 6 months to lodge a complaint from the initial point of questioning a bill and not at the point where I felt I needed assistance.

I also know someone who used to work there (comparatively senior) and apparently randomly changing DDs and intentionally overcharging customers was commonplace. Quality.

but they've just reduced my leccy rate by a third as an existing customer.

Presumably because you weren't on their cheapest tariff and have been overpaying. When did you last switch or check you were on a competitive tariff?

I did say maybe....
They are actually top of the uswitch list when I did a comparison. I do keep a close eye on things though so I've never been overcharged etc.
Anyhow move on...

Run. Away. Now.

We are 2yrs in on trying to leave - and then reactivating accounts at old addresses, sending random bills to random addresses, promising to solve the issues, and then doing bugger all.

Next stop court if they try again.

The last npower person I spoke to also agreed she would do the court thing as next step...

I wouldn't touch them with yours!

Like wise. I was a customer once and will never be again. They are the energy equivalent of Vodafone.
As with others on here I was overcharged, my direct debits kept increasing even though my bills weren't going up at the same rate. They wouldn't refund my over payments, only willing to reduce the direct debit. Cancelled the direct debit until I was only £75 in credit during which time I got threatening letters from them. Switched suppliers and asked for the my money back which they kept promising to do for months until it disappeared on their accounts. I wrote it off as they had I'd enough of dealing with them but take great delight in recounting what happened when you see them trying to get you to switch in the supermarkets.

I wouldn't touch them with yours!

Probably just refunding you from the previous overcharges.

They're a shower of shit. They've got several hundred pounds of ours from overcharging us, they've promised to pay it back at least 4 times but haven't. We complain, they give us a complimentary payment but still don't return the money.

Can I just thank the hive for this thread as we are due to move this week and was set on going to npower as uswitch had them as cheapest for the area.

Any other ideas or just pick the next cheapest in our area?

I would rather sit in darkness than buy electric from nPower, as has already been said, incredibly aggressive.
Been with GB Energy a couple of months now.

To borrow from Peter Cook, nPower are about as much use in customer service as a one-legged man at an ar$e-kicking party. No issues with Scottish Power for both Gas & electricity (despite being hundreds of miles South of the Border).

Op is correct - np owner offering me £100 cheaper than Sottishpower whom I've been with for 3 years with excellent customer service, who are offering me next years fixed at £100 cheaper than last year. For me that's an 8% drop (from SP)

Thing is, with the ever falling oil prices, is fixing energy prices really a good idea?

npower have just been fined £26million for mistreating customers.

Besides all the above they had interesting tax arrangements - nothing to UK PLC. I left a few years ago and still paying less than I was. Went to Flow Energy who pay UK tax.

npower overcharged me last year to the tune of £750 and despite their website suggesting I can get a reimbursement they have so far offered me nothing.
