Sorry for being late to this particular party but having binged ITTOI on the BBC iPlayer jobbie, I can't understand how I missed it the first time around.
Arse clenchingly written, foul language and horrible characters. It's absolutely ace. Go and watch it if like me, you've been in a cultural cave for the past 10 years...
That's all.
Yes, we’ve just caught up with it.
Bloody brilliant , a master class in swearing.
Google Tucker's Law if you haven't already. (NSFW in case you hadn't guessed).
The Chris Langham as hapless minister early series' were amazing, and he was great but there seems to be a reason they're never repeated any more ...

I think it's because they are playing it out in real life just now
They made a one of tv movie from the series from memory.
Where a low ranking minister heads off to America and almost starts a war. That's very good too.
As above, we are living this shit for real now!
Ie, No deal Brexit is now called "Australia Plus". Wtaf!?😆
You just couldn't make this shit up.😆
It is so good. Hilarious but also really well made drama, good characters, etc.
Like Spitting Image, we need something like this today.
It’s brilliant I agree. My boss got switched onto it a while ago and now frequently requests we wear brown trousers and blood coloured shirts to meetings 😔
The Death of Stalin is excellent too, brutally funny.
The writing is the work of unbridled genius! It’s consistent too. The last series with the coalition government (the In-Betweeners) as a comment on Cameron is just as cutting and funny as the other series comments on Nu Labour. Especially the relationship between the old school Peter Mannion MP and Stuart ‘Big Society’ Pearson
We’ve rewatched it from start to finish a few times
Here’s something for your office wall
I take it you've watched Veep, OP?
The US version, just as magnificently brutal at times.
Yes watched it several times. possibly the funniest series I have ever seen. Peter Capaldi is outstanding.
One of my favourites "When I want your opinion I will give you the sign, thats me being sectioned under the mental health act" hilarious. Also the taxi scene where he is struggling with his seatbelt.
Jamie - the crossest man in Scotland 😀
@surfer - one of my personal favourites too. A Malcolm Tucker sweary ranty masterclass 😂
I need to give this a go, also been living in a cave. 🙂
Whisper it, but I've just came upon modern family too, it's bloody good, in a different style to this, obviously!
Thanks Binners 🙂
"its not a sanitarium for the F***** deaf" priceless.
A while back I read an Armando Iannucci interview in which he says he stopped writing new episodes because the insanity of real politics eventually started to outpace anything his imagination could come up with.

Cheers for the recommendation. I thought Veep was what ladies used to remove unwanted foliage... 🙃
And agreed, Capaldi is absolutely outstanding - fantastic casting, writing and acting. How on earth did I miss it?
Chris Langham played the main character of the hapless documentary maker in one of my all time favourite comedies "People Like Us". A mock fly on the wall documentary series that started off on the radio but was televised for a couple of series. Some of the sharpest but most subtle comedy writing in anything I've watched.
Fortunately I've got both series on DVD as due to the Langham involvement they are also unlikely to be repeated.

In The Loop. Sort of a spin-off, Capaldi is Tucker but Addison plays a different character. A reboot I guess.
But I'm still shocked that anyone actually missed this the first time it was on, or a few years back when the BBC repeated it.
It's fun watching back and seeing parallels between what happened in the show and what subsequently happened in reality.

Absolutely this, IMO the first 5 series are right up there with The Thick Of It at its best (no In The btw!) though I think it petered out a bit towards the end. All of it available on NowTV/Sky.
Just been laughing out loud at "Tucker's Law"
If anything the writing got better as it went on. The final season with the coalition government is just superb. I particularly enjoyed the hapless Tory spin doctor who clearly hates the people he works for.
Hmm, I didn't watch it, because, well I don't like politicians enough to actually think they are funny...
Pretty much why I've never watched it. Can't honestly see myself enjoying something about politicians being ****s, when that's what they are. It's complicated!
+1 for Death of Stalin, stunning cast, brilliant pace to the film and although largely comedic in tone a reminder of how brutal life could be behind the curtain.
TTOI was genius at the time and remains so, although the last 5 years of politics seem to have beaten it to the punch on so many occasions. When Bozo was foreign sec I think the BBC did a documentary following him around for a few months, the show was like the love child of W1A and TTOI.

BIFA hosted an online Zoom chat last Friday to accompany The Death Of Stalin (you had to sort out screening the film for yourself). Armando Ianaucci, Jason Isaacs and the people responsible for the music and set design (sorry, can't recall their names now). It was very interesting but I really wish I'd rewatched TDOS more recently before firing it up for the event as I was wanting to give the film more attention. I'd forgotten how bleak and funny it was.
The Death of Stalin is cued up for a bit of post dinner telly
The fear in Paddy Considine's early scenes sets the tone perfectly.

I read that they writers only ever intended two series but when we landed with a coalition gov it was like a gift that was too good to refuse, hence the third series.
