Apparently it's now called EVRi.

Hopefully they've done more to address some of their more… challenging problems apart from just changing the name.

So long as the scarves and ties are still good quality I don't really care.

Definitely this!

To be fair, our local Hermes guys are great.

I wonder if it was a copyright thing, or a desire to whitewash their reputation, or both?

(Also TBF I have had Royal Mail deliver one parcel to the wrong address already this year, whereas Hermes have been fine).

I've never had a problem either. As usual we only hear about the times there are problems. There is no multi-million post thread where folk recount their successful deliveries. Maybe we should start one.

or a desire to whitewash their reputation,

They've been pretty clear thats the case. They've supposedly upped their game and want to put the past behind them. We'll see. .

It's probably to stop people referring to them as My Herpes.

Won't work.

All our local couriers are great, the Hermes chap is particularly helpful and pleasant.

Another that has good service from them.

Our delivery lady knocked on the door a couple of weeks back, she usually just leaves the parcel in the porch, to apologise for the state of the box and for us to make sure everything was still in it. If not, she was going to get it sorted.

The local delivery man round here is good too, tbf.

Problem seems more him getting the parcels in the first place…

I have never had any issues with Hermes, I find them better than royal mail by a long shot.

Ours has been awful and they still leave parcels on the doorstep when we're out (never use them by choice).

Fool me once...

Hermes locally is awful  two weeks to attempt to deliver a parcel by which time I had been refunded.  3x lies that they had attempted delivery.  the new chap that did eventually try to deliver told me there were 2 pallets of parcels going back 3 months just sitting in the depot

I will never use any company that uses them

apart from anything else they are horribly exploitative with their workers.

After a month of non-delivery (and a moribund ‘tracking’ service) they finally admitted to losing a parcel of mine over a month ago and I’m still waiting to hear from the claim. So they have the money for their ‘service’ and the value of the items that I posted. Am very grumpy.

Hermes are OK here. Today I'm in a battle with DPD, who have delivered something to "the pickup shop you told us to" (I didn't), but they can only narrow it down to 50 shop in South Wales - the nearest is five miles in one direction, the next nearest is 8 miles in the other direction, etc... Meanwhile the supplier is telling me my parcel is still being scanned with the DPD system so hasn't been left anywhere!

Seems to be a little more than a name change https://www.ladbible.com/news/delivery-company-hermes-has-changed-name-to-serious-allegations-20220311

Login account still works on the site anyway. Makes no difference to me what they are called, long as the shop is still just round the corner.
scarves and ties ??

Ah-ha... indeed no. Places I definitely like to avoid at all costs.

(Sorry, was just here to read the Great British Divide diary article (recommended!) didn't mean to interact 😛 )

"long as the shop is still just round the corner."

They seemed to have been dropped by 5 shops local to me recently, Millets are also no longer a drop off point for UPS.

Nah if its Hermes they'll just put the past behind your wheelie bin, or maybe chuck it over the gate. Of course you won't get a card saying where their past has been put so you probably won't find it anyway.

For cynics that link up there is pretty positive about raising the bar for the gig economy which may in turn elevate the self-esteem of the workforce. Of course there will be a ton of small print and no MD/CEO/FD wants to hit the bottom line too hard.

Maybe it's just a new mission statement - We lose Evri parcel.

Do they even need to be whitewashing though? Isn't the problem with this kind of situation that the party choosing the service (the shop you buy from) isn't the one receiving the service (you)? Hence companies like Yodel are still in business. Recently got a parcel via Yodel (not on their first attempt of course, been at least 5 years since I had them so had assumed they'd gone bankrupt from incompetence.

I use them loads, and they've rarely let me down in terms of actually moving packages. And when they have, I've always got a refund, except on a couple of occasions when I didn't do the form, which to be fair is definitely designed to be a pain in the arse (you have to give them a load of information to get them to "look for teh parcel", then they admit it's lost and ask you to give them all the same bloody information)

Their customer service went incredibly to shit at the start of the pandemic- like a lot of places, and I'm sure they were carrying way more parcels at teh same time as handling pandemic issues in call centres etc, so it was defensible at the time. But apparently they realised they could get away with it and just didn't bother to improve it. The bloody cursed chatbot is probably the worst I've ever used... So I doubt this is about "detoxifying", because they intentionally toxified just recently.

So as it happens, my local hermes guy used to be salaried and permanent with another courier, but jacked it in because he makes more with hermes, apparently a few of his old colleagues have too.

Local Hermes driver is one of the few delivery dudes to use the doorbell rather than tapping once on the door and immediately wandering off.

Ironically, the first parcel due to be delivered by EVRi yesterday was damaged beyond repair somewhere in transit....
A replacement was immediately reordered which arrived (intact) today.

They've still got the same stupid chatbot and no way of contacting a human, so I'm not really convinced they're going to up their game at all.

My parcel from mid-February still says "delayed". (Fortunately the retailer sent me a replacement - and opted for DPD for it).

Ordered some new pedals from CRC on Saturday and Evri have delivered them today. Left by my door in the hallway (flat) and still sealed correctly too. There was even a small bag of Hatibo inside the package too, felt proper retro!

So far then Evri is better than Hermes who used to just aboandon parcels by the main entrance. Not quite up to Amazon's standards of placing packages under the doormat so that I crush them occasionally but looking promising.

Humm your reputation is in tatters and your service is a joke, do you....

A) Accept some hard truths, Re-evaluate all your processes, work hard to improve staff engagement and morale and put a focus on great customer service.

B) Re-brand and pretend it never happened

In all seriousness i think it was too far gone so i can see why they have re-branded (even if its a stupid name). Hopefully they change some other things too.

Only cinical because i've been chasing compensation for 2.5k of camera kit for the best part of 2 years. some of their shit beggars belief. Still, got a date for mediation now so fingers crossed.

I bet the EvriInsight consultancy are wondering why their website has been getting an increasing number of hits lately.

"I have never had any issues with Hermes, I find them better than royal mail by a long shot."

This!
A year ago I couldn't have said a bad thing about the Royal Mail, but it seems a postie's life isn't worth living unless he/she follows procedures to the letter, which usually results in my having to visit the depot at 8am, when I should be at college miles away, or even worse, the local post office, which opens at 9.30, but not on saturdays when it's shut....
Never had a problem with Hermi though!
