As a Pixel 8 owner it's not something I'd be entirely excited about.
Yes, it's nice to have a phone with updates for years to come but there are some absolutely asinine design choices that make it annoying to live with.
Like Miracast. Everyone else uses that open standard, even ****ing Apple. But no, this is Google, they use ****ing Chromecast. No streaming for you (unless you buy a Chromecast dongle).
And the camera. Want to use flash? That's a 3 second delay. No idea why, just is. Better hope you're not taking a photo of something moving.
Oh and Spotify. There is something really wrong with either the OS or the app that requires you to reboot annoyingly often because it just refuses to play. Yes, I have updates on.
I need to check the warranty T&Cs because I'm really tempted to jump to Lineage to see if it runs any better.
Spotify behaves in a similar way on my S21 if that makes you feel any better?
Sometimes it plays automatically when I get in the car, sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes it plays track after track (like it's supposed to) and sometimes it just stops until I unlock the phone and open the app.
Which isn't exaxtly great when I'm driving!
When it decides to stop playing, sometimes it'll randomly come back to life after half an hour of silence.
