Down to £249, in stock at Currys. Just ordered one for my wife. I got one in the summer, great phone.
It's the Security Update life that puts me off. Only guaranteed until Aug 2023. That's less than two years. I guess they might extend it ...
Just ordered one for my wife who's been toying with a new phone for a while now and was looking at these.

Apparently the Pixel 3 (older handset) has the same 2023 guarantee, so assumption is the 4a will be longer. Apparently.
Anyone got a XiamiRedmi Note 10 pro
I'm thinking I'll go for one or t'other
Aye, bugger it. I've ordered one for Mrs S. Merry Xmas darling 😜
Great phone!
I got one mainly because its not massive but its turned out to be great.
Camera is really good 👍
great phone apart from the lack of contactless charging
Sorry to go all lazarus on this thread, but wanted a quick bit of info on the Pixel 4a to see if it's suitable for my son..
Will this support Life 360 and Kamoot? His current antiquated phone can't do either
That, as well as YouTube and WhatsApp are pretty much all that's required
thanks
Yeah, it should do both of those OK. As mentioned above though, it's not going to get updates beyond August 2023. Someone up there said the Pixel 3 had the same date so the 4a should be later. The Pixel 3 is already out of updates from Google.
Thanks,
Would updates affect existing working apps, or just prevent newer apps from working? ie will Life360 still work after 2023?
Just for context, I am on a Pixel 2 and it still does all I need.

The lack of updates initially will affect the security of the phone, although realistically your son is unlikely to be a big target, just make sure things like premium phone numbers are blocked etc and you'll be fine. In the long run it means the version of Android on the phone will become obsolete and eventually app manufacturers will stop providing versions of their software for the phone, but this won't be a problem for quite a few years down the line.
Thank You
Its definitely a strong phone, I laid it on a chassis rail on the pickup then drove off for a mile ,found it lying on the road looking like it had been in front of a firing squad but still works 100%
All my previous phones died with the slightest of cracks
Brilliant little phone, maybe the last good small Android phone, really hoping someone makes another pocketable Android with good specs when these get outdated.
I have a new one in the classifieds at the mo. Hadn't realised they'd be selling for a reduced price so I'll knock down my asking price.

Not tried it, but the Asus Zenfone 9 gets good reviews. 5.9" screen.

The PSA is 11 months old! Best Pixel deal at Currys at the moment is the 6a at £399, although you can do better elsewhere. The 6a is a great phone, got one myself in the Google 1-day sale for £319.

Young lad installing all sorts willy nilly not a target?! 🤣
Yeah, did think a bit about that while writing it - I meant no one is likely to be actively targetting him.
Installing stuff and visiting dodgy porn sites is a risk, but if you block premium SMS and phone lines I wouldn't be too worried. And if you haven't blocked them on a child's phone you're an idiot 😀

Meh!!
Tis £336 on Amazon, in Google's page there. Strangely still £399 on their own Google Store
I've just bought a 6a so my old 4a will be going in the classifieds soon as I get round to it
I'm tempted... but can't see any reason to change from my Pixel 3a tbh!
Just bypass the 5 it's horrible and the camera is a downer or the software apears to be.
I've had 3 Pixels, all bought second-hand and all heads been absolutely fantastic.
I've for a 6 Pro currently and once you've had a pixel I don't think you'll ever go back to another Android brand.👍
I was a MotoG fan but took a punt on a 4a, and it's great. I'd definitely buy another one.
I don't mean to jinx it but my 4a is coming up 2 years, the longest I've had a phone without any issue. Won't be replacing in a hurry, really no need.
I've just retired my 4a as the battery wasn't holding decent charge. Really good phone. Replaced with the 6a. This is my 4th pixel I think. (Previously working in the mobile phone industry.)
I would have loved to gone 6 pro, but couldn't justify the cost when I was offered the 6a for £199 on a friend's and family staff deal.
Does anyone use the pixel buds, just the basic one, not the pro, any good?
