I'm sure you've all heard of the event, chasing a cheese down the 45 degree Coopers Hill, the 2023 event is taking place this Bank Holiday Monday.

I've always fancied going to spectate but it's at least a 7 hour round trip for me.

I can recommend the Netflix documentary 'We are the Champions' episode one follows some competitors and has some excellent slow mo;

For twenty years I lived within half an hour or less, for two years I lived next to the Cheese Rollers pub, I never went 🙁

Coopers Hill is poorly named though, it should be called Coopers Grassy Cliff, the thought of running down it is mental.

It's a great documentary about the event... The multi X female champion (now retired) and her parents are regulars in my shop.

I also live about a 30min ride, or 10min drive away and have never been to watch - all the roads near by have to close for the event pretty much and you have a 20min walk to the venue from the official carparks.

Cranham woods on the other side.of the hill has some pretty good riding too. I'm usually on my bike.in those woods when I remember it's happening.

Is there a vegan option?

Is that a Public Safety Announcement?

Oh, and PETA can go sodomise themselves with a splintery stick! This is the animal care charity that euthanised 80% of the cats handed into their centres in America, and the way they have their database set up for mailings mean that recipients keep getting repeat requests for donations, even if they’ve asked for their details to be removed - PETA  buy up address lists, and just keep adding the names, so it’s possible to have one person with a dozen or more entries of their name and address, with variations in spelling.

I have inside knowledge of how they work, compared to similar charities. I dislike them immensely.

The documentary is absolutely fantastic! The woman who’s won it multiple times is both really likeable and absolutely bonkers! The slo-Mo footage is excellent and almost looks like a ballet

PETA writes letter to Gloucestershire's cheese-rollers demanding vegan cheese

I bet they told every single person they’ve ever met that they’ve done so too, within 30 seconds of meeting them 😂
