Tell him to get a grip

He's Italian, a certain amount of arm waving is to be expected.

Please put any watches for sale on the classifieds, fancied a running watch for 15 years and always managed to talk myself out of getting one.

Ooo, that's a shame - there was a PSA for bargain Garmin Instinct Solars on here recently.

My transaction disappeared from bank today, status on link from order confirmation still says order received but will assume that's the end for me. So another one interested in any that are received but no longer wanted/needed

Well I just ordered a new crash helmet, expecting to no longer get the watch, which probably means my order will go through and I'll have an enforced dry January due to a lack of beer money.

I’m wondering (kind of praying) that it’s the bank who have released the funds back after 7 days of not being taken by Garmin.
My order on the website is still the same.
Just started running again so this would have been ideal for me.

My PayPal payment came out of my bank account yesterday. My hopes are rising! This is proper nail-biting stuff. 😬

Speculative order went in Boxing Day morning to be paid in 3 via Klarna. Not a peep from Garmin since the original order acknowledgement email and the payment is still showing as Pending in my Klarna account.

Not holding out a huge amount of hope at this stage that it'll actually go through but it was very much a punt so no real complaints tbh.

Amazon were doing them for 280 during black friday. Wait until fenix 7 drops and you'll be able to get even better deals on the 6.

Out of stock at the moment, but new stock arrives regularly. And although its says "newly overhauled", they are as new. New straps, not a mark on them and full warranty.

New straps, not a mark on them and full warranty.

I’d be less concerned about a few scratches on the strap and more concerned about if the battery is in good shape

320 quid for a second hand watch doesn’t strike me as great value for money tbh, I got a brand new top end fenix 5 for only 50 quid more than that last year

Blacks have the standard 6 for £329 atm and with code NYE10 it’s down to £296.10. The only difference between the 6 and the 6 pro are that the 6 doesn’t have Wi-Fi, music and maps.

Yeah, but in reality they aren't 2nd hand. They are refurbished by Garmin, guaranteed to look and work like new and have a 2 year Garmin warranty. I'll bet they are just new watches that have been returned with buyers remorse. My battery gives better performance than Garmin claim for a new watch.

You paid £50 more for an inferior product.

Nope, I paid 50 quid more for a brand new product with 99% of the same features

I’ll bet they are just new watches that have been returned with buyers remorse.

Ah I see, no wonder you think they are such good value! 🤔😂

Same as you get from Garmin for a warranty, you should know that tpb! It's only brand new til you pop it on your wrist.

Quidco currently giving almost 16% cashback at Blacks - that's bringing the Fenix 6 in at about £250 with the NYE10 code. Have placed an order!

Warranty is the same but anyone who thinks these are brand new products that have been returned under buyer remorse is being naive. I thought it was universally accepted these are items that have been returned as not working and subsequently repaired

So realistically you could well have a watch That has parts that already have 18 months of use. Given according to garmin a watch should have a life span of around 5 years That’s a fair chunk of its life already lived.

Possibly a mute point given I’ve never had a garmin product not fail within 2 years however!

I kinda thought I wanted a 6, but tbh looking at it, it doesnt really do anything else that the IS does, except mapping, which I dunno if I'm really that bothered about.

I went from an instinct to a Fenix 6 X Pro.
The maps with the haptic directions are good, the music is ok, but the garmin pay is superb as my phone uses face recognition for payment which hasn’t been great for the past couple of years 😷

A Starling account or Curve card is the answer to the next question 😀

Yikes, 2 years - I expect mine to last ‘indefinitely’. My wife’s Forerunner which she uses thrice a week is 15 years old. My daughter uses my old edge 200 daily, with a replaced battery, that is a good ten years old and my edge 810, again with daily use, is getting long in the tooth.
Now, if I could just get more than an email for my Instinct Solar order 😀
Something (good?) is gonna happen tomorrow eh?!

The maps and music are 2 of the best features on my fenix, I’d say definitely worth the extra.

My money hasn’t been returned yet, and I am being told it’s due for delivery on Wednesday!

If it does appear I was going to sell it to my mate, but as he no longer wants I’ll pass on to someone who had an order cancelled.

Bloody hell....! Ten pages! Not reading all that (I did skim read it).

Still no word from Garmin for me.
Ordered 25th in the evening. Money taken from account via PayPal and not a add yet returned.

Order status is still simply "order received".

Exciting times.

I've a 6 Pro, upgraded from a 5 Plus. The 6 is a much nicer device. No, it doesn't have that many more features, but the bigger, brighter, screen and interface tweaks are well worth it. The hardware is a little more refined too, nicer buttons, better shell, charging port much improved. I'd totally have a refurbed 6 over a new 5 at the same price.

So realistically you could well have a watch That has parts that already have 18 months of use. Given according to garmin a watch should have a life span of around 5 years That’s a fair chunk of its life already lived.

That's kinda odd logic. Fenix 6 units will be newer stock than 5s. Batteries degrade over time - I suspect it's worse for them to be stuck in a box not being used for years than it is for them to undergo regular charging cycles. From what I gather, Li-ion batteries don't do well with being discharged for long periods of time.

I done a webchat - the order is still being reviewed and I will receive an update in the next few days, I asked if I was likely to receive it soon and they said they can't give an exact timeframe on when the order is due to ship. So colour me not much further forward.

If this thread is a reflection of reality (yikes! 🙂 ), there does seem to be a lack of consistency - some delivered, some cancelled, some outstanding. It's vexatious.

"pending payments" (authorisations) very rarely get cancelled - its possible to do in some card networks, but basically no-one ever bothers. They simply time out, after which point they payment is no longer guaranteed to go through, and the hold on your funds/credit limit is released. The pending payments disappearing off your bank accounts mean nothing other than the fact that Garmin haven't submitted the payment to take the funds yet. They may be one of the many businesses (amazon included) to only do this when goods are shipped, to avoid claims the the contract has been fulfilled/to avoid annoying customers/to avoid having to do refunds.

none of the orders have been cancelled (yet).

Know the fenix 7 is due imminently, but it’ll be painful at full retail, so If anyone sees a really good offer on a Fenix 6X Pro Solar please let me know. I passed on the enduro that was silly money on this thread, as the solar X is the one I’ve been after.

I too have not had any updates, other than a web chat a few days ago that confirmed they are thinking about what to do.

All seems very odd. Maybe they are waiting for a more senior person to come back after the break and give the final verdict.

And fwiw and as a bit of an opposite look into Garmin from TPs troubles, as a family we have had various Garmins since the good ol days of the Etrex launch.

All have behaved well and they even replaced an Edge 305 free that developed a fault after 2+ years.

Must have easily had 15+ Garmin devices over the years. Currently have 2 x Edge 530 bike computers, a 735XT watch (mine) and a 945 watch (wifes). She has just bought a 6S pro solar to replace her 945 as it never sat right on her small wrists.

If my order comes through, I'll be replacing 3 products, including the 735 - so fingers are still crossed.

Bit nuts, really, as a purchaser in the 21st century, eleven days after ordering, to still not actually be sure whether anything's going to turn up or not. The ambiguity is not good for my stress levels!

Sorry to be unclear, just that it seems poor show from Garmin that some are getting their orders whilst others are ‘being reviewed’ - whatever that means. I guess to be fair, without this thread nobody would be the wiser.

There were various models/colours on sale. Is it possible that the variation we're seeing is related to that? Househusband got his Surf quickly. Maybe that was straightforward as there was one "on the shelf".

I've just got through on the live chat and been told my order is "under review" as it's still being processed. I queried what "under review" means and it's just in a queue to be dispatched by the warehouse staff. So my fingers remain crossed.

I had another web chat this afternoon and still non the wiser. Was told they are looking at the orders with the utmost urgency but can't give any assurances or timescales on what they are actually looking at it if they will be honoured.

Sit and wait I guess.

Maye they are hoping for most buyers to get annoyed and cancel.

That's normal pending payments, nothing unusual.

Pending transactions can be debit card payments you’ve made

When you use your debit card to pay for something, it’ll show up straightaway in your account as a pending transaction. It’ll reduce your available balance, but not your account balance. This is because the money has been reserved, ready for the company to take, but hasn’t left your account yet.

We will remove a pending transaction if it hasn't been taken within 7 days

We’ll stop reserving the money after 7 days, so that the money is available for you to spend. The pending transaction will no longer show in your account and your available balance will go back up.

However, it’s a good idea to keep enough money in your account to cover the payment. That’s because some can take up to 120 days to go through. So, the money could still be taken at a later date.

No change here either, order still there, payment not pending any more (which is normal, as above).

Tbh, they coyld quite easily cancel the whole lot really, well within their rights, but if they're actually trying to fulfil the orders, then well done Garmin and if it takes a wee while then so be it.

I'm with @JohnnyPanic on this.
Extra delays likely due to it being Christmas and New Year.

I'm confident mine will show up and am looking forward to a nice watch.
And if doesn't, then I'm not that bothered - never had one in the first place!

Yeah, but they haven't cancelled the whole lot, as some people have had their watches.

They can't just cherry pick a few orders to fulfil and then just call it a day.

Unless they run out of stock, but their stock management system is more sophisticated than that, right?

Yeah, but they haven’t cancelled the whole lot, as some people have had their watches.

As @Scotroutes rightly said a few pages back, this would be explained by the raft of different colours and options available, some more popular choices - Black, Graphite frinstance, went out of stock quicker than the brighter colours.

They can’t just cherry pick a few orders to fulfil and then just call it a day.

They can do whatever the **** they want tbh, but it does look like they are trying to fulfil orders.

Surprise surprise my scheduled delivery slot has changed again, 4th time it’s now been cancelled

Think it’s time to ask garmin where it is as I get impression it’s been lost in transit.

Edit..do they have a live chat function? Can’t find it on the site
