This has now pissed me off- the order went in 6 days ago and they have had plenty of time to resolve and send an apology.

Oh, come on - there's been *one* working day in that time.

If they’ve got round to cancelling all orders I’d like to think that they could have seen fit to refund my PayPal account at same time but that’s obviously not such a priority for them!

If they can successfully claim people knew it was a pricing error

I don’t think it was *obviously* a pricing error – possibility wasn’t really raised in this thread until they put the prices up. With hindsight, maybe – but it was still a reasonable amount of money.

otoh, I don’t feel like they’re obliged to honour the orders, either.

It’s cheap enough that I’d be surprised if they don’t cancel due to a pricing error, but you never know

My order still says processing and payment showing on my credit card (processed through PayPal)?

My credit card payment is no longer showing, was 'pending'. Like it never existed.

Poor form without an email but not unexpected from Garmin at all.

I guess Garmin are still processing the cancellations. Mine is still showing on Garmin as in progress and the money is pending in my account.
Not completely unexpected. Didn’t really need one but would have been nice.

No more than Garmin themselves at the moment, it seems. 🙁

Feels like it would be a bit harsh to send you that and send you another email later saying "No, sorry, we changed our minds. You're not getting it after all."

I think we have an analogy for this at work, which amounts to "foreplay". i.e. we're about to get f.....

I’ve just had an email

Assuming this was for one of the discount Instincts then to send that if they aren’t going to honour the sale is pretty disgraceful!

My delivery slot has now passed, no watch, no refund, no email from garmin.

Struggle to understand why I continue to give this company my business given the are such a constant source of disappointment!

It is ok everyone. I have hedged my bets and ordered another (With a discount BlueLightCard card holders get a chunk off)

With my luck and judgement, This means that it will all work out everyone will get theirs and I will end up with two! And probably ended up paying full retail.

I was going to buy a gps / fitness watch anyway for my imminent birthday, so in the grand scheme of things no real loss.

It's for the Instinct. If it turns up it's fine, if it doesn't then it's no loss.
If they have messed up on the sake price and back out then I don't have a problem with that.
It won't stop me buying Garmin in the future

Omg... this is a SUPER scam...

You all think you're getting a bargain GPS watch...
But in fact, garmin have YOUR money, AND you've no watch...

Well played garmin. Well played.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garmin shut down operations and retire off the back of this thread....

To get this upset over something that is going to “sit at the back of a cupboard gathering dust” is mind boggling.

If Garmin turn round and say “sorry, we messed up” cancel the order and issue a prompt refund then so be it. It’s no great loss, and I was actually going to use it.

I’ve struggled to understand that since your first posts on this thread. I’m going between FOMO and simple greed.

Well for starters none of the previous 3 products I’ve bought from them have been reduced in the slightest so it’s clearly nothing to do with greed, more that I’ve wanted a product, paid full price for it, and each one has proved unfit for purpose. But then you wouldn’t know that because you know absolutely nothing about my purchase history with garmin do you.

Thanks for your insight all the same however 😏

I’m not upset in the slightest. Only reason I’ve commented so many times on this thread so far today is that I’m laid up in bed ill and have absolutely nothing better to do with my time today!

I do however think it’s pretty shoddy that they haven’t either refunded me or sent me a cancellation notification, which I think is an entirely reasonable position.

On the flip side, it’s was a not insignificant amount of cash for something I didn’t particularly want, doesn’t have any of the features I use so would have sat at the back of the cupboard gathering dust, and would undoubtedly have broken within 3 months just as every other product from garmin I have ever owned has.

If not greed or FOMO then why?

As far as I recall, and my memory isn’t that brilliant any more 🤔🤞

Wasn’t there a sentence describing the offer as valid till 31 December OR UNTILL STOCK RUNS OUT …. (My capitals)

So it is entirely possible they got swamped and are working through as fast as possible but not everyone will get lucky

Me ? … if it turns up great but if not hey ho .. I’ll carry on looking for my next smar****ch which falls in budget

If not greed or FOMO then why?

I’ve just had to look up what fomo means

Reason I bought one is simply that I fancied a new watch, and for 100 quid reckoned that it was just about worth a punt at that price. Not a massive loss if it broke after all and when garmin stuff does work there is no denying it’s pretty good. Was slightly disappointed however when I subsequently found out (post purchase) it didn’t have the the 3 main functions I use my fenix for, hence why it would probably have spent most of its time in back of drawer.

Nowt to do with greed, although I will freely admit it was clearly a rash purchase, bought between courses at Christmas dinner without any due diligence on whether I’d actually ever use it!

no FOMO for me, FOCOB aka FO current one breaking.

i've had 5 garmin watches, current one is 18-19 months old, it was bound to break if i didnt order.

a bit gutted i didnt order the Ti Enduro watch at £240 as by all accounts thats been getting shipped.

end of the day its only a plastic watch with inbuilt gps. i'll still buy garmin whatever.

To be fair for the £140 Argos price I'd likely step up to a Vivoactive 4 at £200

They can't have sold out as they are still offering them for sale, albeit at a higher price.

That would be duplicitous, to say they had sold out, but offer the chance to buy at a higher price.

"The promotion is subject to stock availability." Is the current wording of the sale terms, can't remember if it originaly said that but I think it did. That could mean they have a certain number of stock items allocated to the sale.

You'd think they'd have the technology available to stop taking orders once that stock quota has been reached.

That delay email Tracey got might just be that they've received so many orders it's taking a while to process them. They probably have skeleton staff in with it being between Xmas and NY.

Generally if there's been a pricing error and the seller realises it, they cancel all the orders, not just some.

My order is still there, still at the same stage as it's been three last few days. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

No rush as I can't ride at the mo, but would be nice to know.

Just had an update from UPS that it’s now due for delivery tomorrow and the tracking has moved on from “Label created” (which it had been on since the first notification yesterday) to “On its way”
So I’m sure it’ll arrive tomorrow; maybe 😀

They did. I didn't order until nearly Midnight. The price of the Graphite Solar had increased to something like £249.99 by that point, but the Tidal Blue was still £95.99. I took it to show that they had shifted the targeted amount of stock for Graphite, so the algorithm had increased the price. The other colours remained at the discounted price until they had shifted a predetermined number of units too. Now the heavily reduced stock has all sold and the price has rebounded.

Or, the poor on call bloke got an alert to say there's been an abnormal number of orders for one particular model of watch, he logs on to find thousands and thousands of orders at the incorrect price. Then escalates the issue and they go about manually fixing the pricing on the models to what it should have been.

The black model might have been the test to make sure the change was correct, once confirmed they then pushed out the change to the website to the rest of models.

Aye, Garmin leave a night janitor on.

Yes, it's called being 'on call' - probably more than one person for a company the size of Garmin, they get a phone call at any time of the night if something big breaks outside of normal working hours. Pretty much any company which has services that run 24/7 and therefore a large IT department will have at least one person on call. We, as a bank have a main incident management person, then on call people in each department. So as a UK bank of 1600 employees, we'll have around 15 people that have agreed to be on call for their particular area.

You think that if a P1 like the Garmin connect back end servers/services went down at 1am on Christmas day they'd just say '**** it, we're on holiday, it can wait until Wednesday'? Lol.

Now, a pricing error probably wouldn't trigger an alert, but the hugely increased traffic to the website probably would, as would unusual amounts of orders.

I'd like to think that if some people have had their watches (or they are en-route) then everybody that got their order in should get them.

For info. Ordered mine 25th. Received dispatch email 29th. Quickly followed by a UPS email with parcel ref. It arrived yesterday.

Planned on getting the instinct solar in march to replace my battered older forerunner 235. Very pleased so far, seems much nicer model.

I've had the shipment delay email today for the enduro, if it appears it will be nice, if it doesn't it takes away the decision about deciding to some point get a watch with preloaded maps.

Edited as spoken to Garmin and Amex.

I did talk to Garmin, they said the order and payment are fine and 'We are currently experiencing delays in our processing so your shipment will be delayed.'

Amex however have confirmed my payment was authorised and Garmin have simply not taken the money. The payment is no longer showing as pending, I've not been charged and there appears now no way for that payment to go through to pay for the watch.

I smell a rat...
