The National Trust are offering free passes for most (not all so read the Ts and C's) of their places this autumn. We got a family ticket. The deal says up to 2 adults and 4 kids.
Fill in your details and they send you a pass by email (can take a few days apparently).
My wife was alerted to this and we just had a great day at Fountains Abbey. Saved over £40 on the family ticket price.
Valid until end of November.

Cheers, that's a good PSA!
You don't have to specify the place your visiting, they just give you a scannable barcode to show when you visit.
Signed up for a two, one with my email and the wife's.
That's a couple of Saturday afternoons sorted 👍

Wherever anyone goes, make sure it’s Cragside in Northumberland. Must be the best NT place out of the lot.

Worked dead easily for us today. Showed the barcode at the entrance and all sorted.

NB offer doesn't include parking if that is on a pay and display. At Fountains Abbey the car park nearest the Abbey is free but the one by the Studley Royal entrance is £9 per day.

Just done it and the pass came though by the time I'd gone to check my email. Will try and use it to treat my niece and nephew somewhere.

I might well do - I've lived in Newcastle for 15 years now and still not been inside. I've never been able to stomach the entrance fee (£16 each last time I checked a few years ago). A couple of years ago there was a National Lottery promotion where you could get in free if you bought a lottery ticket. Had a week off work doing DIY on our new house, and finally made time to go on the Friday, the last day of the promotion. Turned out the house isn't open during the week out of season, only the gardens 🤦‍♂️

So, yes, go to Cragside, but check if the house is actually open.

@reluctantjumper Dyffryn Gardens has a wild wood play area if that is likely to appeal. Not much pay for entry stuff in South Wales.

Didn’t know the house was closed out of season! We’ve been lucky then.
Anyway, if you have even the slightest interest in history/engineering then Cragside is the place to go. The stuff that Armstrong invented/developed is well worth seeing.
Loads of paintings & other associated stuff to keep the ladies interested too. 😜
& no, I’m not on commission from the NT!

Has anyone checked to see if these are accepted in Scotland.

I know the the NT and the NTS have a reciprical agreement to allow membership cards to be used... but can't find anything relating to this offer.

I have to assume it wouldn't be 😞

@timber - know the place well but we have family out near Cheltenham and usually combine that with a visit somewhere so can use it for that. Or I can just use it for myself as I strangely really enjoy a day wandering round a big country house!

If the offer's valid long enough and you'll only go once wait a few weeks - the autumn colours are spectacular around the end of October.

Edit - just revisited the op, valid until end Nov! Also - and as an NT member I probably shouldn't be saying such a thing - Stourhead is quite an "accessible" property.

Free visit offers are not valid at places that are cared for by National Trust for Scotland.

Doh...

Sorry - I 'read' that page, the whole list of properties, but missed the big words at the top!
