If you're in Hampshire then Gosport and Portsmouth are the go-to places especially for kids.

Harry - that sounds really interesting especially having a choir.

I do think that for those folk with kids it can be an inexpensive day out.

Went to Catalyst (worthy, but a bit dull) and Norton Priory (good).

Went up the local church spire with the daughter. Cracking view from the top and even got to mooch around the bell tower.
