You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've found out that people may not be aware of this, but you can get slip on spikes for normal shoes to help walking in snow and ice. They are very popular in Scandinavia and are available for not much money on Amazon, and sometimes I've seen them in petrol stations. They come in full length and instep only versions which are cheaper. If you know any old people who might struggle you can suggest a pair. Next year now though!
I've kept a pair of  Yaktrax in the car for years. Dust them off occasionally if it gets a bit slippy underfoot. Recommended.
+1 Yaktrax. Â Once I figured how to get them on!
Not just for old people like us either 😉 , in fact anyone that doesn't wish to slip whilst walking in the snow and ice, and they also allow you to walk faster than would non-spiked shoes (over hard-packed snow)
I use Kahtoola microspikes, but they aren't kind to lino if you forget to take them off.
Any good for use on a slippery pier when fishing?
By the time they would arrive the new will be gone, but good PSA. Would have saved me a slide and a skid this morning.
Yaktrax are good, with the added bonus of not destroying the floor if you forget to take them off going indoors. Lidl sometimes have the spiky ones (very similar to the ones linked above) so worth keeping an eye out.
Love my yaktrax (but then, I broke my hip by slipping on a patch of ice so once bitten twice shy)
By the time they would arrive the (sic) new will be gone
We bought some from a shop in town*
*First slide into town like a champ. 'Blakeys' for extra kudos. Â (Readers of a certain age will know)
Colleague at work has been using them to get down the hill from his house to the station. My lad has some and used them last night to help push a neighbours car onto his drive
