Owing to a recent security audit by the DfT, security at Heathrow has been stepped up from "Petty and invasive" to "Rubber gloves for all".

Many more bags are being searched and it's leading to massive queues at security - long haul flights are leaving 20+ passengers behind and the airlines will not wait.

Allow an hour, at least, to get through security. No surprise that it's G4S behind it.

Dear Leader had to argue with jobworth B.A.A. security checks over a braided key chain last month when trying to fly out from T4 ... They assumed Dear Leader was going to choke the pilots and hijack the plane 911 style with it. No common sense whatsoever and you are all guilty in the eyes of B.A.A. (I think the security 4 eyes fatboy like my key chain so made up an excuse) I did not give it to him instead I cut it using a nail clipper.

Agreed. There are always doom and despair announcements, but I just don't see it in reality. LGW last week was quiet and smooth as you like. Ditto LHR T5 in all the last times I've been through (About once a month at a minimum!)

In all the time I spend at work at Heathrow, I've very rarely seen any queues worth mentioning at security.

There's been problems in immigration in T5 in the past and T4 has some huge queues now and again which move quickly but never anything with outbound passengers.

Dear Leader was outbound from T4 ... four eyes security fatboy personnel flexed muscle and power. Rude and literate and same goes to the chubby lady supervisor on that day, Alex as she was called, who cowardly refused to give me her full name or employee number to complain.

Next time Dear Leader fly direct from GeordieLand to other parts of the world.

These changes occurred yesterday and appear to be disproportionately affecting families. Good thing terrorists don't fly Club.

Why terrorise London? London or UK is such an insignificant place nowadays. Even USA is rather insignificant. 🙄

I haven't used Heathrow for about 20 years, I always go over Schiphol or CDG.

If I was a terrorist I wouldn't bother trying to attack an aircraft, I would simply stroll into Trafford Park or the Arndale Centre unchallenged and blow myself up, taking hundreds of infidels with me.

Whatever you do, never ever take a 150gm jar of marmaite through security, and then try and explain to the highly skilled security officer the difference between mass and volume.
