Saving up once again for a docking computer.
Worth the download 🙂 and waste your life away again.
Do the do an iPad version?
Cheers for that.
I'll give that a go while I'm laid up for the foreseeable.
oh noooes what hast thou done, Bregante?!
Torn Patellar Tendon.
Nice one, downloading now. Shame about the size of the app though! (400MB)
What I'd really like is a faithful port of Escape Velocity: Nova.
Had hours of fun hacking away at that in ResEdit to take away Cap'n Hector's guns so you could play the shareware version indefinitely.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Torn Patellar Tendon.
Eeerk 🙁 Get well soon big guy!
Crap, I have a busy work month but at least I have some flying coming up
What's with the graphics? No simple polygonal outlines for ships? This isn't [the] elite [of my youth].
downloading now 🙂
See this is why I'm going back to android after my flirtation with the iPhone
Unknown: Space Trading is the iOS version.

This may be old news to elite fans but have you see elite dangerous on pc and Xbox one. Got it recently on Xbox and well impressed. Faithful to the originali n terms of gameplay but with up to date graphics and online universe
Can't... Stop... Playing... Alite.... Thanks and damn you in equal measures. 🙂
Docking computer speeds things up loads. The hyperdrive thing didn't do what I was expecting....
Bored after 6 hours. Pretty simple to make money. Computers and med kits from blue planets, go to grey, sell, buy fur and ores. Repeat.
Any idea how you swap lasers in combat? I've got 3 of those military jobs...dog fights are getting slightly harder as they are coming in 2s and 3s now. Laser overheats, but can't work out how to switch.
Don't seem to be able to buy new ships? Or do missions like the old game? Or have I not found the right planets yet?
never used to be able to switch lasers in the original?
might have shufty at this...
You can fit four lasers (front, rear, left and right) but don't think you can switch them - laser overheat and the management thereof is just part of the whole game. Fell like it's very faithful to the original, like the filled-in graphics and improved torus drive/speed-up combo, only "dang" moment is having to wait while the docking computer parks your ship, sure it used to be instant.
Ok so buying more of the same lasers just means they do more damage?
As for missions, looks like I'll need to explore a bit more then
Can you buy better ships?
Damn you. Finally downloaded and had a play last night. Can't put the blimmin game down. Loved this when it came out on the speccy.
Anyone finding the roll a bit difficult to control? Or is it supposed to be that way?
Anyone know a way to get this onto an Amazon Fire tablet?
You can instantly dock in the options ... select fast.
I love you! 😀
Dammit! 😉
Ok so buying more of the same lasers just means they do more damage?
Not played this one, but on the original, no. You can only mount one laser at once. Buying more lets you mount them in different locations, like rear or sides. Tip - rear laser works well in a dogfight. Get the enemy following you, switch to rear laser and pop away. Watch rear shields though.
Well. I'm now at a stage where where I've got an 'Average' rating. I've bought a bigger hold, and docking computer and missile ecm. I keep meeting thargoids. Not sure what the best strategy to fight them is when the main ship has little 'babies'. I tried one of those big smart bombs but this also blew up all the innocents in the area so I got a fugitive status and shot to pieces by the vipers when I tried to dock!
Just made Dangerous 🙂
Hoping for the missions to start, currently in Galaxy 2.
The tactics I use for Thargoids if you can call it a tactic is as follows.
Comelette stop, empty whole laser bank into it and on most occasions you will get the kill. I Ignore the thar gone in any figet but collect them at the end for Alien Artifacts.
Having trouble with screen calibration.... just pause by pressing the ALUTE logo at the bottom of the screen, unpause and all should be good.
Right of to that poor agricultual anarchic planet for some fun.
Unfortunately the docking computer is not instant if you are a fugitive drug trafficking pirate with swarms of vipers trying to kill you. Ho hum, it wasn't like this on the BBC B.
I DL'd this and then realised how long it was going to take to play and for the sake of my relationship and children and health and job security... I deleted it.
Seriously, how do you have the time to play this?
No kids!
Would this be any use for kids 10 and 8 - like space fairly bright ok with games but mainly done simple Playstation stuff and some footy manager sims?
don't know JY - it is quite slow by modern standards, but there's no coke n'hookers button, a la GTA; although you can trade drugs and slaves...
I loved the original when I was 9.
Time to play.... when things like War & Peace, Call the Midwife, Holby anything with Mary Berry in it etc. ;_)
Buy an escape pod and use it :-)..resets your status to Clean 😉
This is an Amiga port as such and quite faithful to the original. Never played the beeb version.

How do you control it with a tablet? Didn't the original require half the keys on a keyboard?
It tilts with motion detectors in your tablet. Works better than any version I've played in the past.
Download it, try it.
I was surprised how easily docking came back to me!
Anyone found the special missions yet?
Couldn't get on with acceleromter control (had me in a terminal spin) but you can change the config to use onscreen buttons to drive, works fine for me. No missions and don't need em - accumulate wealth and gain status is all you need. 🙂
What I found with the accelerometer was if when you 'zero'd' it after launch or hyperspace if my tablet was absolutely vertical it was really hard to control especially the roll. So I calibrate now with my device horizontal but leaning back at the top slightly...
Pretty simple to make money. Computers and med kits from blue planets, go to grey, sell, buy fur and ores. Repeat.
Yeah.
I played it quite a lot on the ST but I was a kid, and immersive games were in short supply back then. Having all but completed it then, I feel no urge to get it again.
Love this game, brings back good memories of my 128k +2.
Vomit inducing spins aside.
