Love this film. I have no idea how many times I've seen it but I never, ever get tired of it.

What's not to like though? 1970s San Francisco backdrop, chromatic fashion, huge cars and Callahan's constant rage against bureaucracy played out by his sardonic run ins with the mayor and DA. Not to mention his penchant for happening across 211s in progress and picking off hoods with his Model 29 S&W .44 magnum.

Dirty Harry is probably the best of the five films based around this disillusioned inspector with a big gun with Magnum Force a very close second.

It's hard to believe it's 43 years old.

I've just bought the entire Dirty Harry 5 film box set, the new remastered ones with all the extras, on Bluray, for less than £15 from Amazon. Can't wait for it to arrive!!

Also got the soundtrack on CD, it's so creepy, must be one of the classic soundtracks.

I also went to find some of the locations when I went to SF 2 years ago.

I am a fan, if I haven't implied it enough already!!

+1 Lalo Schifrin (not sure I've speled that rite)

Also one of the most misquoted movies ever (including in the thread title). All together now:

"..you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk? "

Watching it too. Loosely based on the Zodiac killer.

You're welcome chipster.

On the guns, I like the model 29 S&W. But. The TDE Automag in Sudden Impact is pistol art.

I watch it every time it's on, classic movie, got to the 2nd murder and the bread knife made me turn over, "you've watched that thing thousands of times' so it's recorded she'll knaff off up to bed in a mo and I'll flick back.

Whenever I see the wooden bridge near the Larkspur Ferry Terminal, I want to climb up onto it and leap onto the roof of a passing school bus. [img] [/img]

One of my favourite films ever.

However, the soundtrack is the best of any film ever. The first 10 minutes or so just gets all the hairs in my body standing up. Lalo Schifrin is a musical god on earth.

Also one of the best baddies ever! I do have to stop myself going the full Scorpio when singing 'Row you boat' to the kids.

Marin County, Cali

The quarry where the final scene takes place is now condo housing. The trestle Harry jumped from went a few years ago also. The railroad route that used the trestle now leads to a tunnel converted for bicyclists through a hill.
