This was trailed the other night on the north west news and looks genuinely fascinating, whether you're into your cricket or not..

Sir Viv Richards, Sir Wes Hall and David Lloyd recall the impact West Indian players made on the Lancashire Cricket League over the last 90 years. A story of how initial reticence and racism turned into an unlikely cricketing love affair, which has had a huge impact on both sides of the Atlantic.
Good shout, I saw it the other morning and it sure is a lovely thing. Recommended.
had it on pause, so just seen it but what a fab and diverting 30 mins.
Imagine facing Wes Hall and Charlie Griffith on uncovered club pitches. Never mind the obvious risk of no helmets, just imagine being hit on the pads, filled with horsehair, or the hand with rubber pimple backs.
They said you could see the fear on the batsmen's faces when those guys were running in.
I'm not bloody surprised!
Fantastic programme though. Really interesting stuff.
See, this is where people who say sport is just grown men (or women) playing games are so wrong. It's so much more than that. It unites more than any other aspect of 'culture', more than music, film, painting, etc.
I just bloody love sport.
Thanks for that. Was very enjoyable.
Thanks binners - will look that up on the iPlayer.
For those interested, Simon Lister's book 'Fire in Babylon' is an excellent read detailing how the all conquering West Indies cricket teams of the 70s and 80s, led by Lloyd and Richards, changed both cricket and the Caribbean as a whole.
I suppose it also highlights the sadness of the current state of West Indies cricket, riddled with corruption and in-fighting and a shadow of its former self.
Great film too.....
Yes, enjoyed that, cheers!
Watched it last night. Excellent, thanks for the PSA.
