As with a lot of you I am on the idave "beans and red wine diet" and after a wasted walk to the local offys in search of red wine (all closed) I gave up and went to the Co-op. A guy I work with recently told me that Chilean wines were good value as far as new world stuff goes so I have been trying these over the last month or so. The Sainsburys Merlot is 8 or 9 quid and is very nice, Tesco do one for about 6 quid which is almost as good, I am currently drinking the Co=op's £3.99 offering and it is beautiful, by far the best, and that's the normal price its not even on sale. When I bought it I go tthe last bottle from an otherwise fully stocked shelf so I guess other's already know about this.
So if your on the diet and dont fancy omelettes for breakfast tomorrow give this stuff a try.
Good pointer. I'll investigate further next time I'm at the Co-op.
Asda also do a reasonable non-branded Chilean Merlot for £3.79.
