Seems a bargain. Yes I know it's old and only runs Android 2.3, but if like me you don't want a 4+" phone this is ideal, especially for biking/running etc.

I've just upgraded my HTC Desire, now I'm only 2 years behind the times, not 3 🙂
It's on Three's website. Don't forget Quidco/TCB too.

Apparently they're not locked to Three either, but I'll wait and see.

Get over to XDA-developers, there's quite a big Defy development community, root it and update to Android 4.x

Might be worth keeping an eye on the site Barnum, I saw it on Hotukdeals yesterday and apparently it was in and out of stock all day. Hopefully I'll still get mine, I've received the order confirmation from Three as well as the £12.50 cashback tracking from Quidco. Fingers crossed.

I'll look rooting and upgrading to Android 4. Depends how I get on with 2.3 and the motoblur stuff. Quite happy with 2.3 on my Desire so I'll see what it's like.

Bought one on Thursday for my dad so he can get some internet while he's in hospital. It does tethering and mobile wifi hotspot straight out of the box. It wasn't locked, but not bothered as I wanted the unlimited data from the 3 "the one" rolling contract for the short term. I have an older Defy too and it's a very decent little phone. Shame no one else has issued a rugged smartphone before the Xperia Z but that thing is way too big for my pocket. Store (Middlesbrough) had stock and gave me the lower price as they had put the new price labels out too early. Motoblur not intrusive, just some messaging integration you don't have to use really, none of it has to stay on the home screen.

Defy is utter dog toffee. So much so that even Vodafone quietly withdrew them from their range because they had nothing but trouble from them. Mrs TT and I both got them a while back and now won't ever have Motorola again. Rooting might work to improve them, but singularly the most troublesome phone I have ever owned. Unstable, liable to re-booting at no notice, sticking in a start-up loop, duplicating the contacts list many times over with blank 'linked profiles'. Never again.

Good job this is the Defy+ and not the Defy, then.

I've had one for 18months, great phone. No issues as such but the camera is not brilliant. Would have one at that price for sure.

OK then sweet cheeks. Defy+ it was for me - which was still withdrawn quietly because it was such a troublesome phone for Vodafone.

Quite interesting particularly in light of this thread:

I got a Defy mini and it seems to be working well so far.

Defy is a great MTB phone - runs strava, endomondo, viewranger with no probs. Generally v rugged but the touch screen can't handle any water on it (maybe all phones are like that?), body is v waterproof though.
Can't handle google maps, but I guess you wouldn't use that MTBing.

It's past it as a general phone nowadays - wouldn't plan on getting one if that was your intended use.
